I didn't know the deal was finalized.
I think you have to take the information in this article with a considerable grain of salt:

1) - It's a local TV station in Billings, Montana - hardly an authoritative source.
2) - They quote anonymous sources, mostly low level employees at the Billing's Cabela's store.
3) - Way too many fudge words in the report ("may", "potentially", etc).

The only thing we know for sure is that BPS is contemplating a takeover of Cabela's. Everything else (for now) is purely speculative. A BPS takeover might actually be good news for Cabela's. Everyone is concerned that the chain will be dismantled. BPS might in fact recognize the inherent value of the Cabela's brand and reinvigorate the chain with additional investment! It's way too soon to panic.......

Speaking of Bass Pro Shops:

Their free preview of their "Santa's Wonderland" is tonight. It will be open from tomorrow until Christmas Eve.

Pictures from the opening of Bass Pro Shop's "Santa's Wonderland" tonight. It was very crowded with free hot chocolate and cookies. A winter train display and kids got free stockings with a table for them to decorate them. I think this will be the best Santa display Moncton has ever seen.

Santa and Mrs. Claus

Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman

Chrismas Tree

Snowman at North Pole

Foam Toy Shooting Arcade

Laser Shoot the Wildlife Arcade

I believe they are. This weekend they had a Welcome Santa Breakfast and Max-FM was there.

According to the T&T today:

The new Canadian Tire at the Northwest Centre remains on schedule to open in March.

- the new store will have 60,000 sq ft of retail
- there will also be a 13,000 sq ft garden centre
- there will be a 13 bay auto service centre
- staffing will increase from 90 to 130 employees

Good news for the Canadian tire store. I wish we had plans to see it would seem more real that this is happening for me but I can always do without.

I saw in the news that Sobeys is opening its 3rd Sobeys Extra in Nova Scotia, it was also mentioned that they are looking at additional markets in Atlantic Canada for this new format. With all the talking about the Sobeys ''situation'' in Dieppe, I would not be surprised to see one of them opening around here. Sobeys is also a very strong brand in our region and very well represented. Secondly, I'm not convinced that Sobeys is leaving Champlain. I think they might do a renovation and it could become a flagship location, perhaps with the Extra designation, but I am only speculating. In any event, I think Sobeys would be wise to have the Moncton area on their radar with this concept if it's coming to New Brunswick. They also have one in Newfoundland. I don't think the concept is groudbreaking, but interesting nonetheless.

I agree with you here I use to know the old Manager Mario, and his boys. and while he was manager was around the time the Rumors started about Sobeys moving out of Champlain place. I will not say it was him it could have been anyone who started the rumors but to me it's strange that there was more rumors of Sobeys moving out of Champlain place back when he was there as Manager, and 2 of his kids where working there at that same time. I heard about a potential renovation but I think staff is a little weary because of all the extra time it took for Walmart's renovation, and the fact Walmart had to close there doors a few days for a massive clean up

Here's the Chronicle Herald article for the new Sobeys Extra store in Tantallon (suburban Halifax).

http://thechronicleherald.ca/business/13...nveils-new-look-in-upper-tantallon-store

There is no question that the status quo is not an option for the existing Sobeys store at Champlain Place. It is badly in need of renovation. I think anything is possible right now. The acquisition of Co-op by Sobeys has probably put the kibosh on a new store on Dieppe Blvd. As such, it is probably equally as likely that Sobeys will refurbish and expand their Champlain Place store to this new format as it is that they would close the store and move it elsewhere in the eastern part of the metro area (like Harrisville Blvd). I expect movement on this file in the next 1-2 years..........

The thing is that Sobeys has an equally small and inadequate store on Paul Street. If I was them, I would have closed both and open a store where the Kent used to be on Champlain.

I haven't seen this on the forum but if I missed I apologize. I was speaking with a gas station attendant at the Superstore gas bar on Main St. He said that the building going in by the CIBC is going to be a Sally's Beauty Supply and a pet store.

Why is your dog so sad? LOL!
EDIT: Sobey's has often said in the past that their little store just off Paul St. is one of their best performers in terms of sales per square foot.
