^No. Vinoly's a dick and also a hack, who doesn't even do any of his own preliminary designs. I used to work for him, I know. If he were in charge of designing this, he would have made three very slender tubes of unequal length, just like that new middle finger that's sticking out in midtown nyc. Totally uninspired crap - at least this is unique.

Anyone know if the windows will be tinted in the "fade in fade out" patterns or the renderings are just trying to mimic the effect of shadows and reflections?

dig the semi-honeycomb on the shorter segments...and they listened it appears, that one blank wall from a previous developer is now covered!

Yes, the glass varies in efficiency based upon the intensity of solar heat gain relative to the position of the floor on each frustum.

I sort of wish the half honeycomb pattern was continued in the glass facade. Those horizontal lines are nice but does anyone else feel like they take away from the verticality a bit?

That might be from the original figure munchymunch, if it's 93 stories it could be 1200' and the renderings make it look 1200' as well.

We'll wait and see, either height is good obviously but 1200' to the solid roof would really make a nice impact even in Chi Town!

Looks barely taller than the Aon Center or about close to the tip which is almost 1200 ft. Given the perspective if we look really close.

I'm liking the new design! Build it!

If Vionly is involved with it al more the better in my opinion. Its certainly an interesting design.

True, but it is behind it in that picture.

Where did the 1200' figure come from anyway?

In any case I gotta say I'm impressed, they cut costs and even made the design better (and maybe taller)!

Good work guys

Kamin reports a height of 1,144' - 8 feet taller than Aon - if using Lower Wacker as ground level. If measured from Upper Wacker, then 1,094'.

47, 71 and 93 stories; hotel, w/condos on upper floors.

Kamin is wrong, 1,144' is the height of floor 93, the top floor. Both Gang and the developer's rep referred to it being 1,200' which I assume is the height of the parapet or mech penthouse. There was an image at the presentation that showed "Floor 93 - 1,144'", maybe Bvic or someone got a shot of it. I could be wrong, but I heard 1,200 multiple times and that image also suggested it.

Thanks for the clarification.

This is such a great addition for Chicago if completed, even better if the site across the river has a great design.

Great!

93 floors is nice too, you can never trust skyscraper diagrams too much because people who know nothing about tall buildings usually get their facts wrong. Glad it's 1200' to the roof

I assumed that was just rhetorical, they rounded up.

Anyway, great presentation. I stayed for the comments... Lots of the predictable crap about irrelevant neighborhood concerns from middle aged suburban transplants, but also some great praise for the design from the audience.

I enjoyed hearing from some fellow Millennials living in Lakeshore East who specifically rejected the others' complaints about traffic - they walk/take transit everywhere and like the hustle and bustle of living downtown.
