I drove by yesterday and the site is officially a big hole in the ground now, about one level below grade.

Every time I read this I cringe at the thought. My condo unit's parking spot is on the third level of our parking garage and I can only imagine having to loop around 9 levels of parking garage... Unless it is built with one of those spiral ramps at one side so you don't have to drive through the maze of cars...

Also wondering, does anyone here know how parking space locations within a condo are typically allocated? As far as I can tell, there appears to be no logical ordering within my building in terms of floor, units, etc...

First come first serve?
Random draw?
Preference given to higher $$$ end units?

It depends on the building and the builder. Could be any of the above. Sometime they also hold back some of the best spots so those units that are sold late when the spots are already known will have a good spot and therefore be that much easier to sell.

I bought at Tamarack Wellington and they start to contact people who bought first to pick their parking spots and just work their way down the list.

If you make an issue of it when you're purchasing your unit, you can often negotiate a "better" parking space. If it's an issue for you, just be prepared to walk if you don't get satisfaction.

I forget how I did it but when we bought in Mondrian we fought hard to get the best spot. We were 1st level right beside the elevator

I was taking a look at the Slater a couple of years ago and they were reserving parking for units over a certain size
