As commented before, the KE rumor seems plausible, but a
ton would have to go right to see it happen this year. There is no operational reason to start a sub-daily passenger route with a 747 though, not when you have access to twin-engine long-hauls with smaller cabins to fill and yields to establish on a new route.
Other than a brief mention, the only BA possibility is an upgauge to a 777, and that's likely only an accommodation to add cargo. Furthermore, logistically this adds a product - BA's First Class - that the market hasn't seen yet. We may see a 3-class 777 eventually, but these kinds of routes is exactly what the 787 is made to perform.
As for new Mexico service, I'd say that's in the cards for AUS eventually, but far more likely from a Volaris or Interjet - airlines that are growing quickly - than a return of AeroMexico.
