While I was certainly a fan of the original colouration and design of the residential tower, I have to say that that there are perspectives where the glass fins add something quite special to the building, a crystalline sort of appearance that we haven't seen before. Looking dead on, yes, it looks spandrel-tastic, which is unfortunate, but for the most part it will be viewed from an angle as one looks up a street. I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together and will reserve judgment until further along.

Some pics I took on Feb.22, that sculpture is one complex piece of work! The imported silk screened glazing from Spain looks neat although I'm sure the installers are sweating to get them spaced properly. Should look amazing when it's done (unfortunately it's also a magnet for any future rioting goons). I would have to agree with previous comments about the glass "fins", definitely a PITA to keep clean, probably not the best place to be when the big one hits Looks fine tho...I found ample room (for one person) to get by the stairs on the east side even with the narrowing of the sidewalk. Good use of shipping cans on the west side for the construction scaffolding.
You can see the north side of the condo tower in this one:
Office lobby:
Canopy - the podium is being clad in white Carrera (?) marble, which isn't as bold a statement as the original onyx
and may disappear in all the visual "clutter" (esp. since the steel box girder of the canopy is also white).
Wow, that took so long to happen I thought it had died on the vine.

And here I go getting my knickers in a knot again about a sidewalk but I think this green electric utility (?) box just appeared on the sidewalk on Richards Street opposite the mystery steps. Not sure it has anything to do with Telus Garden but there is the telltale strip of fresh asphalt leading across the street towards the office tower. I hadn't walked through this area much in the past few days so I didn't see any installation taking place. I've searched through all the photos that I could find from before but couldn't find any images with it in it.
Hopefully it's temporary? Or maybe the city has some great future plans to completely redo (and widen) this sidewalk after the Telus project is complete.
If you look closely you can see the new media screen in operation (my photo Feb 27).
Thanks for the pic. Ummm… I'm a little underwhelmed. I know that's not how it'll look in the dark but if that rectangle represents the whole thing then I suspect it's not even going to be noticeable to a lot of people, let alone readable.
In this pic you get a glimpse in the east entrance of the office tower on Richards Street near the corner. You can get a sense of how the wood will look from that vantage point as you enter. Imagine the full arch of wood after the green plastic is gone.
No it wouldn't be nice! I can't stand grassy patches between sidewalk and curb. (Or gardens). I also like how the trees have a grate around them and not a patch of dirt!
