Sure the signage screams 'suburbia', but I think it will do quite well in that location given all the people that come in for sports/concerts and want a relatively cheap family-friendly place.

I am just so thankful it is not another Donnelly Group Pub. They could make their pints $1 and I would still go somewhere else if I'm hungry...even trying to revamp their menu the food is awful; just... awful.

A Red Lobster or Olive Garden (gasp!) would've been way nicer......

Red Lobster would have been nice, indeed. If you ever crave Olive Garden, there is one in Langley(!).

Craft Beer Market and Tap and Barrel are both family friendly... to the extent that they welcome kids and families. There are a few other things coming, like Flying Pig. There's a Cobb's with a full cafe, Urban Fare express.

Would a White Spot or something else really fly there?

Commercial sites always follow the residential developments, wait for people to move in, assess the demographics.

Is this thread focused mostly on chains?

Can those who traverse the Richmond area keep an eye out for where the local gem "Shanghai Wonderful" may have moved to? They said they were closing down as of last month due to a giant condo tower (Grand Villa) being built at their old premises. One of the waiters seems to have told my father that the new location is somewhere near the Richmond Costco, but other than that I have no idea...

Talking about local sport bars, I went yesterday to try out the All Starts bar that replaced Moxie's on Robson some time ago. It is actually pretty nice inside and I have never seen so many TV's in one place! There are literally 1-2 TV's at every single table and dozens more on the walls, on patio and in restrooms. There were lots of people watching the Canucks - Oilers game yesterday and the atmosphere was great!

Too bad the baby back ribs I had were mediocre, but apparently the chicken wings are good. If you like wings, you have to check this place out as they have 200 (!!) different flavors and 10 different levels of hotness.

Sounds a lot like the ESPN Zone was (minus the arcade) but even though the food was average there it was always fun to go watch a game there when I was around one. One of the few places where you could catch a canucks game when you are out of the area.
