I walked by the new Think Tank HQ on 9th & Congress last night. They have the steel skeleton up. The facade shape reminds me of the building they are replacing, so that's cool. To me, it looks like it'll just be a taller version of what was there with a sidewalk awning reminiscent of the Stephen F. Austin hotel.

A single permit request for four tower cranes was filed last week for the medical center:

Site plans (with elevations) for a few projects.

This first one is planned for the lot between East 8th & 9th at I-35 where that single old house is sitting and falling apart. It looks like the house will be demolished since the elevations show the complex fronting both 8th & 9th.

800 Embassy Drive - 93 feet 9 inches with 5 floors of residential over 2 floors of parking.

Bluebonnet Studios - 2301 South Lamar
ftp://ftp.ci.austin.tx.us/ATD_AULCC/140828/PLANS/AULCC_SP-Bluebonnet%20Studios_PLANS.pdf

I couldn't get this one to load all the way. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

East MLK Boulevard & Alexander Avenue Mixed Use -

This will be a big improvement over that bombed out house that has been an eyesore for decades:

Austin's (Potential) Future Skyline

Here are some updated images from different perspectives of Austin's (Potential) Future Skyline. I included ECC as an 800' building on the western half of the lot.

I really hope y'all enjoy these as much as I do making them!

Please leave comments/suggestions!

Yeah I like them, thanks for going through the effort. It will be quite the skyline if it gets built out like this. Your mock ups definately help confirm my imagination, I just wish we could get taller construction further north. Perhaps you could indulge me by planting a few towers north, but realistically by keeping the cvc in place. Maybe even spotting some towers north of the Capitol where the planatarium tower was once planned.

I hope the ECC project is not only iconic in its architecture, but, also in its height!

I'm really hoping we get something tall there and at the courthouse block. I've been imagining 3 points on the skyline creating a "big three" like Cleveland and Minneapolis, though somewhat shorter. It would really create some symmetry for the skyline and at some peaks.

Looks like Endeavor is gearing up to develop a site next to Hotel Van Zant near Waller Creek/Rainey Street, according to the Austin Towers Blog: "Red River Properties Apply For Demo Permit, Signals Development Efforts" http://austintowers.net/red-river-properties-apply-for-demo-permitsignals-development-efforts/

Originally these two lots (4 half-lots) could support approximately 220,000 square feet of mixed use development total, which is a little larger than IBC Bank Plaza. I wonder if Endeavor will try and get a better FAR so they can go taller? Provided its not in a CVC. Also, I wonder what they are going to build there - another hotel seems unlikely.

Two prominent sites of raw land in downtown Austin are under contract, further constricting a tight real estate landscape and confirming what many observers already knew: The Central Business District is one of the most attractive markets in the country.

The southwest and the southeast corners of Cesar Chavez and Red River streets are under contract to two different parties, according to the sellers, Robert Knight and Perry Lorenz.

Knight said that one buyer group is local and the second is from California.

If memory serves me correctly, that lot has one or two old houses and some giant oak trees?

Paul pointed this out in another thread. Looks like they put the wrong address by mistake. This could very well be the 91 red river project.

Also- I drove by the property there over the weekend. They have a green sign out front stating the house will be demolished or moved on ~August 27 (was late august, might be off) and would have an open forum for people to speak up.

This could be yet another project in Rainey!

This is really close to Zilker Elementary, I wonder if it will be allowed or get killed by NIMBY complaints.

Hill Country posted the original link to the permit request:
https://www.austintexas.gov/devreview/b_showpublicpermitfolderdetails.jsp?FolderRSN=11198377

Assuming the address really was a mistake, it looks like this site will be another hotel project. I wouldn't be too surprised due to its proximity to the convention center.

The address may be wrong, but it's not 91 Red River. Below is a link to the tree permit for 91 Red River, and the legal description of the lot is completely different than Millennium Rainey.

91 Red River (see legal description): https://www.austintexas.gov/devreview/b_showpublicpermitfolderdetails.jsp?FolderRSN=11192365

"91 Rainey Street" aka Millennium Rainey (see legal description): https://www.austintexas.gov/devreview/b_showpublicpermitfolderdetails.jsp?FolderRSN=11198377

(I posted this on the Millennium Rainey thread as well)
