I wouldn't want to live there and it doesn't really have any impressive towers, but thanks to the escapement and some decent density I find Hamilton to be strangely picturesque. Mind you I'm not instantly turned off by the sight of smokestacks like some, rather I see them as relics of a bygone age denoting how Canada was once an industrial giant.

took this the other day from a condo on the 38th floor of 55 Nassau St N. I have taken similar shots before, but never from this high up (this is from the top floor of the building). Taken through a window with an iPhone so it's the best I could do.

You can see some red pixels near the top right corner, just below the Esplanade Riel bridge, that's the crane at the Heritage Landing construction site (25 floors)

There are a lot worse places to live. It's the only place I've lived where I'd actually move back.

I'm very looking forward to seeing some shots of the hulking Brookfield Place skyscraper taking shape in Calgary.

That thing is gonna be huge.

As for Yorkville looking forward to One Bloor, giving Yorkville some serious size and height. Making Yorkville into its own standalone downtown vibe. Even with Four Seasons, the skyline is still more stubby than I would like even with a 205 meter tower. A Massive 260 meter tower will change all that for the better in addition to creating a true sense of "Arrival" at street level.

I'm flying out to Edmonton for a few days on Sunday. Looking forward to exploring the city in my free time, and hopefully I'll get a couple good vantages of the skyline while I'm there. Very high chance of it necoming my new home in April.

Too bad you are going to Edmonton in the winter, the river valley in the summer really is something else. One of the few areas where Edmonton actually beats Calgary

Yes, unfortunately you'll need snowshoes to get to the best spots. That's why I don't have any skyline shots from Edmonton.

Its pretty cool in the winter too (pun intended), especially if you have a fatbike or like to hike, snow shoes, or cross country ski. There's even a few downhill ski-hills with lifts with similar lengths as COP in Calgary.

Most of the trails through the river valley are actually plowed regularly... If you need to go too far off trail, snow shoes would be required, but to get to the most common places where photos are shot you won't need snow shoes.

Exactly.

Go to Louise Mckinney Park and take a winter segway tour on wicked huge tires, rent skates at Hawrelak Park, rent skis from a local shop and head into the valley.

Take a walk on Whyte avenue from 109st-99st.

Grab a coffee at 3 Bananas in Churchill square.

Explore Mill Creek Ravine.

Winter can be and is beautiful.

I don't think they were taken from the islands, I think they were taken from the edge of the pier at the Leslie Spit by the Eastern Channel.
