I'm not sure if the graininess somehow adds to it, but I like this shot.

The Big 3 + Calgary (are we allowed to say Big 4?) are all gorgeous. Definitely something Canada should be proud of. And they are all distinct.

By the way are those 3 Vancouver shots photoshopped/HDR'ed? I wouldn't know how to begin trying to take photographs like that.

Sorry, only ''the big 3'' will be tolerated.

Sincerely,

Those Vancouver ones are awesome. Even seems to have some variety in those. And not big spaces between the towers.

As far as skylines go, there should be a big 4, since Calgary's primary skyline is larger and taller than both Van and MTL by a significant margin. Population-wise, no.

Also, here are some sweet shots I came across yesterday. Deer abound in Calgary's Nose Hill Park, about 6 km from the downtown core.

Vancouver's stadium has a really nice impact on the skyline with the lighting scheme. Beautiful stuff.

LMAO...There is no big 4, using the # of highrises in the downtown core as a measure is ridiculous, by that standard cities like Madrid and Berlin if located in Canada wouldn't even make the "big 4"...

There is a big 3, and even that's a stretch, it's more of a compromise as many would say there's only a big 2 then everything else, with Vancouver somewhere in between

Wow I'm surprised you didn't say there was only a big 1. Centre of the Universe and everything.

...if you're going by skylines, which we are, then why wouldn't the number of highrises in the downtown core be a measure?

Calgary has the second best skyline in Canada, but it is significantly smaller than even Vancouver (which barely makes the cut for it to be the "big 3"). So no "big 4" sorry.

The Big 3 thing doesn't make sense to me. Vancouver's skyline is probably the most impressive in Canada because you can take it all in at once. It's just that a lot of the buildings are kind of poverty looking. Calgary's is one of the most visually interesting. Toronto's is presumably the biggest, but you can only see so much in any given sight-line. Montreal's isn't really that big at all, or doesn't look it, but it's the meatiest.

If we're allowing anything other than just Toronto, I think it needs to be bigger than just three.

It looks as if Vancouver has the much larger skyline, by quite a bit.
