Some great photos there. Wow!

An interesting shot of the buildings that once lined Main St. A strange period post new City Hall construction but before the Civic Square project got under way. Similarly, a pic of James North post-City Hall but pre-Eaton's expansion. The fire of the Royal Hotel, too.

Some great historical tidbits. Cheers.

Ah I miss the Thistle Club. I checked out the inside of it while it was abandoned. Really neat place.

April 6, 1951, thousands of onlookers jammed Gore Park to witness ceremonies when the old streetcar made its symbolic final run. Streetcar tracks were ripped up in a massive road works project that lasted for years.

I have a majestic beverage bottle - I think it's from the 50s or 60s. Mine is this design:

Another big Hamilton bottling brand was Pilgrim - from the turn of the century. If you can find those bottles you can date them within a few years based on the logo and name as they changed names frequently.

I found their history here: http://pnjmarchand.com/pilgrim/bottles.htm

It's terrible that I'd almost forgotten about the Thistle Club - took me a moment to recognise that photo. I was inside only once, just before it closed. It was tired and in need of some serious love. It should have been designated.
