Same thing about Toronto too, just when the bubble talk /Market crash were the loudest was when the tallest proposals came, - 1 Yonge, Mervish, Oxford and Holts. Now all that the hype has cooled down only one is really hot right now. The other ones on afterburners...

We need some more damn bubble talk up in this bitch. Dammit!

They're all making their way through rezoning. Mirvish & Gehry's " hotness"is not a good thing. Mirvish's threats and unwillingness to make changes and Gehry's smug arrogance as a declining star is not making any friends.

Im not sure how in tune you are with the development community here but I guarantee it is not as much as the people that are working with these proposals.

What are these proposal anyways and please don't just say they arevhidden somewhere in the Calgary construction thread. I hope one isn't the former IOL site in which Calgary formers have been dreaming of a new tallest long before Pan Canadian Petroleum though of hiring Foster. Oxford probably has an idea the minimum square footage but, certainly doesn't have any finalized plans yet.

I've heard very solid rumours of a new tallest called Gateway that is not situated at the IOL site.

^nope. This would be top of bank beside the Hotel MacDonald. I believe it is around 63-65 floors.

Wow, big improvement! Not so sure I like it's scale next to that Fairmont Chateau though. Kind of monstrous in that area. How many feet is it? Also did they change it from 2 towers to one? Damn I wish they'd do that in Calgary more.

Edmonton is on fire with new proposals. Funny enough, in another thread I was mentioning that Toronto will have a hard time keeping up with Calgary and Edmonton on the construction front, because there is a real economic boost happening in Alberta that is non-existant in Ontario. So we are like making gold out of wool here, with nothing to back it up. So as predicted when the slowdown comes, I see the Alberta cities taking the lead for Canada.

It's a true paradigm shift, something like what happened to Montreal in the late 1970's and early 1980's.

While edmonton seems to be putting out more and more proposals; there are only a handful of shovels in the ground. I'll get excited then.

I will be very happy once both of Alberta's cities each have two 200+ meter towers UC. The 2nd and 3rd tallest cities in the country, possibly 1st and 3rd before too long.

That Edmonton proposal is tacky beyond belief. It looks very 1999 Dubai. Kill it.
