I wonder if one of them was that "Sleepless in Austin" character who had um, unrealistic expections of women.

Here's a link to the trailer for it. TLC keeps topping itself in the craptacular category.

My friend (from Austin) posted on her facebook that some location scouters came knocking on her door earlier today saying that they were interested in using her house in a film which would star Al Pacino.

I saw that, too. Makes me ridiculously happy. Once that lot is filled, that area is going to be "finished" and it will look great.

Still no site plan with the elevations, though. That's one of the few projects I haven't gotten a height for, yet.

CORRECT! My good friend from the cinema is working on that project. It is a David Gordon Green flick.

Thanks, yeah I'm not a big fan of reality drama crap but I thought it could be interesting.

Shoal Creek Walk

Regarding Shoal Creek walk, I talked to someone I know who works in the WF corporate offices and she said that WF is not moving into that new building. I am not sure if that is true or not. Has anyone heard anything?

I got the impression that Whole Foods gave up on this project when they moved part of their headquarters staff to the Las Cimas development off 360 about a year and a half ago.

Ewww... I saw "Prince Avalance" and it was booooring. But I wondered if that movie had been shot in Bastrop during the fires back in 2011 because the story takes place somewhere near Dallas and its about a fire (and it looked a lot like Bastrop to me).

Anyways... I hope he really integrates Austin a lot into the film. I just can't seem to figure a character like Al Pacino living in Austin, always yelling and screaming with his scratchy cigarette voice would probably not fit in with the laid back friendly atmosphere in Austin. lol

edit:
my speculations were correct! In the details section it says it was filmed in Bastrop! Genius me.

I LOVED Prince Avalanche! I thought it captured the spirit of 80's Austin/TX really well (not that I would know, but I do). Austin in general has a really great film history. We've got to protect our special sanctuary....we should never forget what we have or get caught up in fancy shiny new crap that comes from some cookie cutter developer$$$. The foundation is good, lets keep it that way

311 Bowie progress

The slow progress at 311 Bowie, shot Saturday Oct 12. Maybe now that the parking structure is done, and they seem to have moved onto the first of the residential floors, the progress will speed up?

Whole Foods only signed a 2-year lease with a 1-year extension at Las Cimas to temporarily house their expansion. It's my understanding that Whole Foods has a right of first offer on Shoal Creek Walk, meaning that if the developer (Schlosser) builds the building he has to offer the space to Whole Foods first, before he can lease it. Whole Foods has the right to take all or some of the office space in the building. It may even be at a fixed rental rate. There are rumors in the brokerage community that Whole Foods and Schlosser are feuding right now. Don't know if that's true, but if it is, it is more than likely about Shoal Creek Walk.

Nobody here on the Austin forum really thinks like that. I think we're all more excited to see the downtown get infilled rather than worrying about some supertall.
