FTR (and FTW), This is surely on an architecural par with 200G...and I most respectfully take issue with anyone who calls the geometry of these masterpieces anything that I could possibly construe as "boxy".

I think people are referencing the older designs as "boxy". This is the current proposal...

I think I've sufficiently recovered from the catatonic seizure to add that this doesn't include either the Girasole, 15 Penn(?) or the proposed (and hopefully still on-track) 34th and 10th. Ditto for the Terminal Bus Tower.
I'd be thrilled if anyone can regale me with a short list of anything I overlooked.

Do you notice as I do that the west corner of Tower One and the east corner of Tower Two slant ever so slightly? It seems more pronounced with the latter. To test this, I had to position your image against the edge of my 1280x720 screen (dimensions stated to highlight the awesomeness of your photo enlargement).

Basically a group of towers in the same height range, some of which already have their own threads. A more extensive thread on the city's massive redevelopment plan for the entire Hudson Yards is in the General Development forum.

The area on the left directly north of the western yards is currently occupied by the Javitts Convention Center. There's nothing planned for that site in the immediate future except a small expansion of the CC, but in the longer run, that site will probably be rezoned to allow for denser development in a couple decades.
I think that Jaypro was referring to the very large, full-block site which is directly adjacent to the Yards. The city owns it, and it clearly will be sold to a developer and will yield a lot more huge towers.

Jaypro...The BIg Pyramid is on West 57th Street...good mile + away from the Hudson Yards.
Thanks for the replies, gents. As a suburban Long Islander (extreme western Suffolk Co.), my point of reference for NYC has always been from the Queens side. I now hafta get used to learning more about and paying more attention to a whole swath of Manhattan that has IMHonestO inexplicably gone undeveloped for years.
I wished I was an architect already. I would totally by that site, and build a 2,000 foot tall skyscraper there, and maybe the Twin Towers again?
There are scores of big, empty lots in the vicinity of the Yards which will support huge towers. Moreover, in addition to the huge lot directly north, there are two city-owned full block sites directly south of here that will be developed too.
No 2000 foot tower would look good in NYC, that's why there's never been one.
I think the reason is the market, not aesthetics. And in the right place a 2000 + footer would look good.
