That would be great, or failing that, they could build a Leed Certified building on any surface parking lot downtown and I'd be happy. It sure would be nice to get a store here, though I can see Saskatoon getting it. They just opened a store in my hometown of Barrie, ON, which admittedly draws from a pretty big population base but it's so close to Toronto. I don't see why Sask couldn't support a store.

If memory serves me right, I think they're going for silver, and I think that in this day and age, EVERY building is supposed to be LEED

City workers hand shovelling the plaza this morning - ouch!.

I assume this is just around the "rooms".

Thank god they did not open it up to traffic - just look at all that "programming" going on out there. Also, there are so many pedestrians how would cars ever get through?

Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing how this evolves - I imagine it might be like witnessing Scott's last expedition as temperatures slowly decline.

So 12th Avenue is not being open to traffic? Ever? What a waste; forever wrapped in plastic. Maybe Pasquale's waiting for the Pope to show up?

BTW - I count 27 tents, but I would guess only 3 or 4 are occupied all night.

I hope the cold didn't keep them up all night. They would be useless today at their...uh....jobs....with no sleep.

I noticed a city of Regina sign on the Money Mart building on Broad street, apparently they are expanding it to 4 floors, as opposed to the original three. Looks like they are also expanding it in the back so it is going up and out. I just hope the city enforces the downtown plan on them and they change the design from stucco to something more modern looking.

It has improved somewhat with the 4 storey pop up on the east side, stone on the main floor and more interesting window treatments.

One suggestion I'd heard for the Plaza was to only open it to bus traffic and keep public traffic off. Sort of a middle ground between the two sides. Really, the money was invested to make the base withstand traffic.

Occupy Regina is supposed to be cleared out. I didn't figure they'd still be there by the time the Remembrance Day ceremonies commence on Friday.

I'd call that a marginal improvement, it really looks like it belongs out in a strip mall or a big box development, not on the edge of downtown. How unfortunate.

That's a great suggestion. I hear many people want to see private vehicular traffic off the plaza, but would like to see it open to public transit. I hope the right (and wise) decision will be made by the city regarding that issue.
