Now if they could do something with that massive garage stretching from Main to Robert S Kerr, fronting E K Gaylord Blvd. They could demolish it, and put part of it underground and the other section as an enclosed podium for another development.

Well, this tower is very quickly establishing itself more and more as the tallest building in town. Seeing it is an awesome experience, and now that it is the tallest, it is kind of jaw-dropping every time I go by. It's hard to imagine the skyline without Devon now. Here are some photos that caught my eye recently.

This photo is taken from the Lake Hefner dam, a 9 (!) mile crow flight from Devon Tower. Foreground highrises are residential and office buildings are part of the NW Expressway business district. Downtown buildings peek over the ridge, and Devon is going to soar into view over Lake Hefner. From Mrktguy29, Photobucket.

This one wowed me too, by OURulz2000 at OKCTalk. The canyon on Harvey is pretty dramatic now, with the view terminated by the public rotunda of the Devon Tower. The street will be a new "view/pedestrian spine" for downtown, which will extend through a new central park south to the river via a high-design pedestrian bridge over I-40.

What in the world, I had no idea that OKC had other towers outside of its CBD. Cool.

You should pay OKC a visit. Only 3 hours west of Russellville. Also check out Tulsa. And take lots of pictures.

Ive been there twice, just went downtown and Bricktown though. I have some photos of this tower earlier in the thread right when groundbreaking began and when it was about 4 or so stories off the ground.

For those that are interested with the current stats, the top surface of the completed 33rd floor puts Devon right at 516 ft....making it a tie at 3rd tallest in the state with the 516-foot First Place Tower in Tulsa. That 3rd-place tie will of course be broken with the completion of the 34th floor. KEEP SOARING, DEVON!!!

Yep, OKC and Tulsa both have a number of buildings outside of their CBD's. In fact, the states current 2nd tallest building (Cityplex--648 ft.) is actually about 7 miles south of downtown Tulsa. Also check out Russian Sam's helicopter ride on page 29 of this forum for awsome views of OKC including our secondary skyline a few miles northwest of downtown. While you're at it, just google [russian sam's helicopter ride] for some more awsome aerial views of both cities.

Downtown from the airport. You can see the slight taper of the structure has begun, you can also see the structure of the rotunda at the base now. Also note the new tower crane to the lower right, for a new apartment project that has been moving very fast.

Approximately 574 feet now with the foundation poured for the 36th floor.....wow!! Only about 276 feet to go now!! Looks like its gona top out ahead of schedule.

Good news for OKC and Oklahoma. Glad more oil companies are starting to stay, and better yet, grow in the state again versus the mass exodus we saw (especially here in Tulsa) over the last few decades. Very good news for OKC's downtown that Continental wont only be moving into Devons old headquarters, but is also expanding. On a similar front Tulsa will be getting a small new 15 story (possibly taller) tower started later this year as Cimarex is building a new facility here across from the BOK center. There should also be a new downtown hotel along side that development as well.
