That's a good point, I have over reacted to many comments on here. I guess it's just extremely annoying that 90% of the people on here are good contributors and want to have a good discussion, but 10% just like to stir up shit and contribute nothing. I've tried to take a more moderate tone with my rebuttals as of late and I suggest that everyone else do the same.

If it was any other place that you had slammed, people would be jumping all over you, but because it is Calgary, no one says anything.
You should probably stick to Edmonton-english since your french spelling is a fail as well it is such a lame cliché to use it is laughable.
Jealous bitch.

Great shots Jimby! And thanks to all who contribute pictures to this thread! Well worth viewing. It's amazing how many different designs exist.

Just ignore the moron

Nice pictures.

When I lived in the ole Peg, I remember hearing that the Arlington Bridge was to go over the Nile but for some reason it ended up in Winnipeg.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

Well just counting bridges over the rivers or other significant features for Calgary:

road: 28+ (including a couple non-public)
ped: 13+
rail: 8+ (CP/CN/LRT)
dams: 1 (2 if you count the one just on the edge of the city limits)

This Twin-Tower-looking shadow actually belongs to the Concorde bridge between Ste-Hélène and Notre-Dame islands

In 2004, there were 103 roadway bridges in Edmonton; 50 cross other roads; 15 cross trails; 38 cross ravines, creeks or the North Saskatchewan River.
Source: http://www.epl.ca/InfoFile/EPLInfofi...20-%20Edmonton

I estimate we have added since then:
- Five water-crossing bridges (four on the new Anthony Henday Drive ring road, and one footbridge bridge still under construction across the North Sask)
- 26 new roadway bridges on the AHD ring road with approx. 18 more under construction on the north extension
- At least five new misc. roadway bridges (including three for the new 23 Ave. interchange)

Note that I'm guesstimating on some of these numbers, but just trying to give an idea of how many we've added since 2004. Also note that these are city-proper and don't include neighboring communities.

Does every span count as a bridge? if thats the case AHD and Calgary trail must count for ten or so.

^ I tried to include all of the AHD/Cg.Tr. bridges in my count, but I may have been off. I'm going by a Google Maps view, and may have counted some spans together that are in fact separate bridges.

ETA: On recount, there's 35 new bridges that were part of the AHD SW and SE extensions, 4 new ones under construction in the SW, ~6 more u/c in the W, and ~15 more u/c as part of the north extension.

I've seen very few Ottawa bridges so far, which is a bit strange since Ott has lots of bridges (including the canal ones)

Here are some bridge pics I've taken over the past few years:

Portage Bridge

Champlain Bridge (top), Prince of Wales Rail bridge (bottom)

Macdonald-Cartier Bridge (paint the rust already..)

Alexandra Bridge

Not a great pic, but that is the Chaudière Bridge on the left, Potage on the Right

Somerset Pedestrian Bridge (aka Corkstown Bridge) over the canal

Laurier Bridge

There are a few more over the canal, but I don't have pics.. someone else might. There are quite a few others in the region as well.

Already mentioned, but another of Hogg's Hollow - likely the busiest bridge in the country.

Nice to see some bridges from around the country.

Here are a few I took on Friday.

This is the Highway 97 C bridge over the Thompson River in the southern BC interior. The town it is located in is Ashcroft

Trivia: Ashcroft and area is where the filmed the "Mexico" scenes of the A-Team movie.

The bridge itself is nothing special, but the scenery and Thomspn River sure are!

All pics are my own

^ My granny lives in Ashcroft. A few km down highway 1 is the Spence's Bridge in, uh, Spences Bridge. This one is closed to vehicular traffic now...

The G. Fraser Conrad Bridge in Dartmouth, NS. Completed in 2007 it's part of the Lake Banook portion of the Trans Canada Trail. The highway in behind is the busiest and widest roadway in Atlantic Canada with 12 lanes of traffic;

Photo I took earlier this week of the MacDonald Bridge from Dartmouth, NS. The building to the far left is CFB Stadaconna;
