CJOB downtown revitalization (Richard Cloutier Reports)

Richard Cloutier did a show earlier this week about downtown revitalization.

You can listen to the discussion at the link below (CJOB Audio Vault)

http://www.cjob.com/StationShared/AudioVault.aspx

Date: Monday, Feb. 9
Time: 10 AM

----------------------------------------------
Some interesting highlights of the show..

Show Begins: 12:06
The views of your average suburbanite articulated nicely 24:08
Your's truely with an email question: 40:26
-----------------------------------------------

The show had quiet a few good ideas, including but not limited to:

-A dedicated city councillor for downtown
-Tax incentives to home buyers to purchase downtown
-Expropriation of property from absentee land lords

Guests on the show include:
-Cindy Tugwell (Heritage Winnipeg)
-Ross McGowan (Centre Venture)
-Rudy Friesen (Friesen Tokar Architects)
-Bill Thiessen (The Urban Realtor)
-Tom Thiessen (BOMA Manitoba)

So, what do you guys think?

That is one case in point.

The good developments happening in the Exchange District and other neighborhoods are so micro compared to the overall state of a city which is slowly declining.

Incidentally, my mother just returned from Rwanda, and said the streets of their cities are generally cleaner than those of Winnipeg.

i disagree with your hypothesis that the city is slowly declining...what are your reasons for thinking that?

works for me with linux.

http://64.141.104.34/20090209_10.wma is the url that it seems to go to in any case.

its about 20 minutes of old news about the bad icy roads before they start talking to anybody interesting. then its cloutier being a dick and mentally disturbed callers named jim bob with no common sense wanting to "blow it up real good", so the usual CJOB pap.

thank you for your help

cloutier is a dick all the time I tried to talk to him in person when they were doing a show at a mall a few yrs ago. He is a first cousin to a friend of mine
dad. Anyway I am sure why I want to bother to listen to negative CJOB ...
