Thanks MrD. just look at that surface lot south of NBC. Its hard to believe locations like that and Wolf Point are still surface parking lots.

It's going to be a wait though, they don't look like they're in any hurry to start phase 2.

Has there been any new proposals for Wolf Pointe or that lot on the River near NBC Tower? I had heard something about possible plans for another supertall on the Wolf Point property...any news?

That's true and I didn't think about it. That does make it quasi-riverfront in a sense since there will be no buildings really in its line of sight.

Oh wow, at least one of those Division St. developments is still on the boards I guess. That is one of those less talked about that I worried could go by the wayside.

Awesome. The 2010 start time is telling. The developers are obviously anticipating a market rebound sometime around 2011. There's still hope yet that the Clybourn/Division area ("Cabrini-Green") will redevelop at decent density; this Division highrise, along with the Clybourn/Larabee mid-rise should set a nice density precedent for the non-CHA properties. There's still that strip mall blight, but you can't win every battle.

EDIT:

uh, dude, you missed

A mere 7 years ago or so it wasn't so surprising... Streeterville has come a looong way

And it's still god-awful ugly. For a non-budget hotel, it really seems unconcerned with the first impressions of its guests.

1349 South Wabash

Has anyone been by this site recently? I want to say that it is in site-prep, at the very least (YoChicago announced that it broke ground a few weeks ago, but their definition is often not as stringent as ours). I drove by in a cab early tonight, and it looked like there were two adjacent sites that work was going on at as opposed to just one....one definitely being Glashaus, but I think there is work being done at this site too.

I feel that I shouldn't like this design, but for some reason I don't mind it at all. At least it's a solid, intensive use of a small infill site, and a another surface lot will disappear...

RE: Superior 110 - Why is that one row of glass covering the second column from the left a different color. Is if just from the angle that photo was taken?

The Chandler is finished now. 1349 South Wabash is in site prep but not construction yet, at least not as of 1 week ago.

Also, it seems that SoNo West and Staybridge Suites are topped out.
