Dang the Spring is going to be a tiny Tall skyscraper at over 40 floors...it will be awesome! It will stand out!

I think it might be cool living on a floor with so few units.. I remember that when I lived in the Dobie building, there were only 10 units on each floor and I thought that was small. But the Spring has some floors with only 4 units of 1700 sq feet or so... probably a unique living experience, I'd imagine you feel like you "own" the floor a little more.

I still wonder though, would such a skinny tall tower sway much in the wind?

21C Rumor Mill....

So now I have heard some information that 21C is either canceled or postponed indefinitely. The source is decent, but not as good as the last time I posted info about 21C. I'm checking around to validate the rumor.

I just checked The Spring Web site and it has some nice floorplans...and it is only 4 condos per floor....nice!

What was the avg price per square foot at the Spring?

We need something like the Spring in San Antonio....The Vidorra does not have the floor to celling windows like the Spring, Austonian..ect....

Avg price per square foot is something like $450-500. The floor plans definitely reflect the small footprint of the building. Compared to 360 they're slightly smaller (the compromise in space seems to be in the bedrooms, as the living areas look very spacious). I wonder how well they're selling?

On a side note, from my vantage point of the Spring construction, I can't tell if what I'm seeing is the Spring parking garage, or an expansion of the building where Pure Austin gym/Office Max is... or both? Anybody know?

The Spring always reminds me of the Roppongi residence Towers in Tokyo.
Height wise Spring is shorter but the floor count is the same and overall proportions are similar from what I can tell.

Of course, but it seems to me they've gone to an awful lot of trouble of late, what with a redesign and a complete relocation.

I just won't be surprised if 21c goes down. It's a new concept that has not been tested...despite the fact that there is some experience there, there aren't any 21c-type places out there in big towers.

In this environment, that's a huge problem.

Check out the "sliver condo tower" @ 785 Eighth Ave under construction in Manhattan (looks like it has an even smaller footprint)

I thought I would see how my old Photoshopped Legacy building compared to the real thing. Here's a photo originally from MikeFromTexas (where has he been, btw?) that I added both Legacy and Austonian:

And here's a photo I took today, now that Legacy is pretty much topped out. Not exactly the same angle (I was going off my faulty memory), and the sun is in a different spot, but it's pretty close. The Holiday Inn has a new paint scheme. If anything, I think Legacy is even more prominent than I imagined:

Yeah It would be quite a rush to be on the top floor of Spring during a heavy wind/rain storm.

I tend to be skeptical of this kind of skepticism. Not to say that the project is on the outs. I'm just skeptical that they engineered an elaborate ruse to fool people into thinking they didn't have the wherewithal.

Oh yes, there are some skinny towers in New York. Toronto and Hong Kong have a few too.

It's not about developers attempting to fool people. It's about a brave front the developers put on no matter what is going on behind closed doors. It happens in marriages, faltering companies, poker, etc. You never let people know what's going on until you absolutely have to. Otherwise you scare people off sooner, when if you hadn't said anything, something might have come by to rescue you. And the world would be none the wiser.

Hey not only were those two skyline views taken from approximately the same place on I-35, the sky and cloud condition are the same in both photos, too.

I've been out of town (Dallas) to go to a funeral, but on the bright side, I don't have to turn in my rental car until noon Thurs, so I ran out to the Zilker Clubhouse and took a few photos Wednestay evening.

These views of Frost Tower won't be with us much longer.

Anyone know what that low-rise construction is? I can't seem to place it.
