I'm referring to the yellow mesh balcony panels, not the backing for the red ones. I wouldn't like it if the red panels were pink Italian marble. I see a much larger problem with the general design and concept.

And this building is not in River North and I don't dabble in transplantation studies. Park view West has never really been attractive to me, I'm sure there are other buildigns I really like that everyone else thinks are hideous.

(john hancock was an extreme example)

Soil testing is to commence this week if not today for this building adjacent to the W=A site which is a surface parking lot (all of the cars for that half of the site where this apartment building is located are gone and the site is fenced in).

I was under the impression that the sharter tower was going to go up first, hence no need for a thread.

I would personally like to see a thread once the taller tower begins construction. If Elysian has one, I think this development deserves on b/c it is more important IMO.

I forgot about this one. Nice building, I heard there was talk that this building was going to recycle rainwater and have a "green" roof. The lobby looks nice.

Every time I see more renders of 353 I like it more, it is going to be one of the most underrated buildings of this boom until we start seeing the facade go up. I think this building is going to drip of glassy detail just like that 500 west Quincy or whatever it is with the glass mullions.

Quaker Oats Building + 353 North Clark + 300 North LaSalle = a TON of bluish-greenish glass.

Re the bluish-greenish glass: the antidote to River North's prevailing painted concrete motif, or another instance of contemporary architectural pastiche run rampant?

Yep. It might be enough to make it interesting.

Is Thom Mayne to thank for the glass fins idea? Anyone? I'm drawing a blank as to where I first saw this.

I actually find it to be a nice match to the color of the river and the neighborhood's oxidized copper details.

I think these are for the rainwater collection system, 3 were drilled in the NW corner. photo from December 2007.
