Lightbulb HOUSTON | Six Houston Center | HEIGHT | 30 FLOORS

Six Houston Center

Summary: A 29 story, 584,000 sf Class A office building. Construction begins this month.

If anyone has any information on the developer, architect, etc., that would be great and I will be sure to add it here.

There was an event in downtown Houston previewing the upcoming building:

At the event, they had rendering of the Six Houston Center:

Credit of the photos goes to ChannelTwoNews on HAIF (Aka Wattleigh on SSP).

This thing looks really nice. I like the side with the slanted pieces of metal. Very new yorkish.

What do you mean "Plus they are adding resedential"? Are they adding res to THIS tower?

Downtown, on a block surrounded by Walker, San Jacinto, Caroline & Rusk streets. It's about 3 blocks away from Discovery Tower along the Rusk side.

Re Residential: He meant on the map, since there's a residential project listed along with the proposed Convention Center Hotel.

It looks like part of the design for the now defunct AIM Tower in Greenway Plaza was included in the crown of 6HC. It really makes the building more attractive and interesting than what people once thought after a rather blurry image was presented a while back.

Very exciting.

Here's an overhead view from the northeast, featured in the short video presentation on their site.

I really like this building, its design is just right, although I do not like the 2 parking garages in that photo! But oh well, I can live with it.

I think it would be better built in the Energy Corridor or Greenspoint than DT. Too small for DT.

I disagree. There is already enough out there.

Perhaps in Greenspoint, but not in the Energy Corridor.

The projects are progressively getting taller and taller in that area and leasing seems to be generally easy. Most of the smaller (6-story and below) projects are either being built entirely on spec or with almost all of the space pre-leased. Highrises may not be built entirely on spec, but a number have been built with at least 1/3 of the space pre-leased before construction.

I think the days of 30 story buildings in that area aren't too far off. There are some close contenders out that way already that have been built in the past 25 years. One Westlake Park, the tallest building on the BP Campus in Westlake Park, is itself one floor less than 6HC.

It also looks like Eldridge is becoming a second spine for the Energy Corridor given the number of projects that are planned or already under construction from the Katy Freeway to Briar Forest.

This is kind of boring, though it will probably look better after it's built with the glass.

Let's hope so. Perhaps others will see and hopefully, in the future, will present us with more radical and interesting designs.
