Its coming down pretty hard in East Van as well, almost to a centimetre. Wierd, I thought the temperatures were supposed to go up because of some mumbo-jumbo the meteorologists said.
ohhhhh....Environment Canada just posted a snowfall warning a minute ago. Talk about a bit too late!
AMOUNTS UP TO 5 CM OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN IN THE GREATER VANCOUVER AREA. 15 TO 20 CM OF SNOW NEAR WHISTLER. THIS IS A WARNING THAT SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS..LISTEN FOR UPDATED STATEMENTS.
that's so weird. it hasn't snowed a flake in richmond in the past week. but yet the other day when i drove into vancouver there was snow on the ground. nothing but good ol' liquid precip down here
lol, i'm hearing from friends that go to SFU that Burnaby Mountain is a complete mess. evening classes are canceled, buses aren't moving, cars that are trying to get up/down are crashing, and everyone is stuck at the top of the mountain.
SFU administration really does not know how to properly deal with this. You'd think they would have had some practice, given that the university has been located on top of a mountain for over 40 years now.
Translink buses stopped running at 3:45 and the university didn't cancel classes until around 4:30.
For a Vancouver February night, not bad...no rain. Two years from this very moment, the Opening Ceremonies would've been over. And from what i saw on CTV, the helicopter shots were awesome.
That would suck if it was really mild for the Olympics. It's going to be funny though watching visitors arrive here from certain areas south of the border dressed for Arctic conditions.
Looks like the weekend thru till Tues looks sunny and mild.
