I wish you guys would give up the blaming of an overall
market slowdown on new
leadership. If the market conditions were identical to when they took office, I'd perk up.
I agree with Mr. Downtown's answer to the question of the origin of the Boom: Chicago is being rediscovered far and wide, and the inherent beauty and benefits of the locale are driving the demand. Just imagine what some visionary planning could do.
The Boom will continue as the market drives it. There are not many places in the Metro area where zoning will allow high-rises. A committed developer thus is not going to be deterred by a few new aldermen and a little extra red tape, if there is any at all. I will concede that Fioretti is off his rocker, but a real developer knows the ropes, as we have seen with the miserable circumstances at X/O. Maybe some of the big guys will scout north instead of south, just to avoid him, but overall I doubt there will be any decrease in delivered units.
