I remember hearing something about 900 south and state street about half a year ago in our office. However, I never heard what was going on/in on that lot.

It could be a renovation, or it could be a demolition. Either one will be welcomed. Those stores were kinda dumpy.

$540 million Medical center makes its debut

http://www.sltrib.com/business/ci_7033677

A view of the Center's Sorenson Patient Tower. An open house of the $540 million facility continues today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Rick Egan/The Salt Lake Tribune )

... She also expressed amazement at the patient "lift system" that was on display in the neuro rehabilitation unit on the 12th floor of the main hospital building. It uses a system of slings that are supported by metal tracks in the ceilings of the hospital rooms and hallways to give recovering patients increased mobility...
... Still others were impressed with the atriums and alcoves with their large windows and views of the Salt Lake Valley that will be available to many patients and their visitors...
... "Everything is so well organized that there is no need to walk mile after mile through hallways and parking lots to get where you want to go," said Vic Fowler of Salt Lake City. "It says a lot about the thought that went into the design of this place."

Very nice SLC Projects, I always enjoy your pics. Say hello to the wifey, and tell her that we miss her. Oh, and don't forget to get a couple of pics of Southern Exposure,( you know, for sentimental value.)

For those who are interested I put together a little video giving a tour of the new Intermountain Medical Center in Murray when the wife and I went on the tour today.

This is definitely a one-of-a-kind state of the art hospital that is like no other.
Video Link

Also what happen to Fall? We had our first little snow storm today. Crazy since it was about a 100 degrees two weeks ago.

Nice video Projects.

The new hospital looks great and certainly bound to impress new visitors. Were you given a demonstration of the intracampus underground tube system? I hear it's quite impressive. I still like working at my hospital but I'm so going there when I return to SLC.

I never know there was a underground tube system. LOL. The tour itself was limited to a few hallways and rooms. Most of it was still closed off.

Salt Lake City International Airport: Waiting for liftoff

After being put on hold by 9/11 and airline bankruptcies, expansion starts to take shape

http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_7042211?source=rv

The Salt Lake International Airport. (Rick Egan/The Salt Lake Tribune )

Officials at Salt Lake City International Airport are laying the groundwork for a sweeping transformation of the airfield's antiquated concourses and terminals...

...The number of concourses and additional gates hasn't been decided. But parallel concourses, a configuration used at hub airports such as Atlanta and Denver, would allow airplanes to taxi to and from gates in a speedier fashion by entering from one direction and then exiting in the opposite direction

Cool. I work at the airport and I see first hand everyday just how busy and pack it gets. We really need a bigger airport.

Oh it's just a tube system like the kind you see at a bank drive thru, except much much more extensive. It links the core laboratories (which are in a separate building on the side facing 54th South) with every other building on the campus and with every floor in the main tower. This eliminates the need for couriers and phlebotomists to carry specimens back and forth between buildings.

I was downtown today taking some pictures of some of the projects. I will post them tomorrow. At the church history building they have started putting the exterior facing on it. I also drove by one and nine and there were a few guys there working on it. They were moving large bundles of lumber around the jobsite.

Sugar House developers, city planners surprised when expected hostile hearing is amiable

http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_7048990?source=rv

I have mixed emotions on this project. I like the west side of the Granite block being redone but I think the reason the area is ripe for redevelopment is because of the existing shops on Highland Drive that will no longer be there.

I think the planning commision needs to mandate that both projects need to be LEED certified. Mecham seems a little short sighted if he is unable to see that the long term costs of being LEED will off set the minimal increase in costs up front.

I think the planning commision and city council should also mandate that each of the two developers contribute to the funding for the trolley line from Central Pointe. It could be figured into the rents of the commercial space or into the costs of the condo's. I would hate to see it added onto the already skyrocketing retail rents, but then again, if it's just Starbucks they can afford it.

I think transportation needs for new projects like this need to be included in the developers costs. Make it mandiatory in new projects. It's not as if the projects aren't going to happen because the costs are increase a percentage or two.

I like what is being proposed as long as mass-transit, including the trolley are considered a requisite and not a charming luxury. Sugarhouse is already too traffic-heavy

No. The facing that they are putting on the south side was different. Light in color and the panels were made to look like large blocks. I will attach the photos.

Are you referring to the St. Regis Hotel at Deer Crest? The St. Regis is definately a reality and is under construction. Here is an article from April of 2007.If you're referring to another project, then please specify.

St. Regis features funicular
