Le populaire bar L'Barouf, le réputé restaurant Le Continental et une succursale des magasins Fruits et Passion ont été ravagés par les flammes, hier soir, à Montréal.
Le feu a pris naissance vers 19h, dans le commerce Fruits et Passion situé au rez-de-chaussée du 4159, rue Saint-Denis. L'origine de l'incendie demeure inconnue. Environ 150 pompiers ont tenté pendant près de quatre heures de maîtriser le brasier.
Mauvaise isolation
«L'isolation entre les bâtiments n'est pas très bonne. C'est difficile de contenir le feu parce qu'il est très fort», a expliqué Gilles Ducharme, chef d'opérations au Service des incendies de Montréal.
Victime d'un coup de chaleur, un pompier a dû être transporté à l'hôpital. Huit pompiers ont aussi été incommodés par la chaleur alors qu'un autre a subi de graves brûlures au cou. Tous ont toutefois pu être soignés sur place.
La rue Saint-Denis demeure fermée à la circulation entre Saint-Joseph et Mont-Royal.
