^ well, the name is coming from peshtigo court, which forms the western boundary for the site of this project. the street of course was named to commemorate that awful tragedy and to honor the dead.

hey guys.........I have a question I wondered if anyone on here might be able to answer somewhat. Of all the great projects proposed, mentioned and still in the pipeline, given the condition of the market these days, does anyone have a guess which of these might actually get built!! i would love to know what you guys think, especially those who on here all the time!! I think we are in a very cautious period now and there is a lot of buildings that haven't started yet! thanks

My quess is that Intercontinental Tower and 3660 N. LSD are most in danger
of being cancelled due to weaker market conditions. Park Michigan could be
dropped for lack of city approval if it proves to controversial. Of course, there are a few projects such as 901 S. Wabash ans 1001 S. Wabash on the proposed list that have essentially been dead for a while.

I'm worried about Park Michigan. NIMBY opposition alone may not be enough to kill it but NIMBY opposition combined with a questionable market just might. It's also somewhat on the edge of the "acceptable for suburban empty-nesters to live here" area and the edge-areas tend to suffer the hardest during down times.

The Intercontinental I'm more optimistic about because of the recent news and the players involved.

The Post Office project over the Ike and the Union Station project will likely go forward due to financial support from the city.

3660 in danger? I'd be surprised if it were even still in existence as we know it.

Invsco seems to have a tough time with its new developments here, at least, as far as I can see.

But if they ever did get around to starting it up, I think it would be a pretty easy sell, even in a tough market. There is virtually no comparable product in that neighborhood, so competition would be much less, and there might be untapped demand.

I think South Loop is holding up pretty well, no? If so, that might be good news for Park Michigan. But until Park 1000 is nearly T/O, I'm not going to get too worked up about Park Michigan, as much as I want it to be built.

Intercontinental Tower is a hotel. A weak hotel market will strengthen the chances that that building gets built. this has been said many times.

I've never even heard of 3660 N LSD.

And I doubt Daley will let Park Michigan slip. Its "controversial", but its a great developmnet. besides, its close enough to Michigan Ave and far enough South that it will likely have some different market pressures than somthing being built...say in Streeterville.

Negative? Wasn't intended to be, it was intended to be sarcastic humor pointing out that the only reason a building named "the Peshtigo" raises such alarm bells is that the only thing it is known for is burning down (because it is a pissass small town, no offense to any Peshtigoians). However, on the other hand, Chicago is known for many things so a building Named after Chicago doesn't bother anyone.

Yes that was part of the intent of my statement. There were actually many fires that started that day/week because of an unusual midwestern dry streak...

I hope you're right. It's just such an important project that I'd rather stay pessimistic and pleasantly surprised then optimistic and let down in the end.

Great news about the MoMo too.
