There is also an allocation of space at Halsted and Clybourn for a potential future entrance to the subway station.

All in all, a very nice development that will greatly assist North and Clybourn's upgrade from a suburbanized mistake into a truley urban shopping district. This project combined with SoNo and the new Brittish School gives me great expectations of how this area will evolve over the next few years.

Thanks Shawn. Great account of the New City complex. Sounds like a nicely planned project - my only wish would be for a design more of the caliber of the Booth/Hansen and VDT projects in the immediate vicinity. From the model or rendering I've seen, it's not bad, but it could definitely be better...

If anyone is planning to attend today's Plan Commission meeting and is able to take pictures, it would be great to see a few photos of the planned Lake/Wells apartment tower renderings. I don't think any have been publicly released yet....

I mocked up one of the more obvious options for wolf point site....at some angles it would very slender...and other angles it would have a larger profile.

I was just browsing the front page looking at all the pictures, and I noticed an old rendering is up for "Cityfront Plaza Tower II." Dan, you may want to change the name to "The St. Clair at Cityfront Plaza" and add this rendering:

Interesting. So its just on an architect's page.....not an active proposal? If memory serves, this site is currently a ~3-4 story parking garage, so this would be a tremendous improvement in land use.

^ Looks good and is a great site because Wells is essentially the alley between LaSalle & Franklin/Wacker... to put up a quality tower that also fronts Northern Trust's little park wouldn't be too bad if it's real.

I like the way that Monroe building connects to the existing building to the east and forms a solid streetwall. Looks good.

I like it. Are we sure it's an office building? A recent posting indicated that a proposal for a ~30-story hotel, 3 minutes from Sears Tower, would come out soon. This seems to fit that description.

Of course, I was hoping for a supertall to occupy that site. It's the only developable land anywhere near Sears Tower, and I think the Sears needs some more clustering.

^ What's the deal with you making a call on "fun house glass" from a rendering? (this is the 2nd time in a week you've made such a premature and foolish statement - 200 N. Riverside. Surely no one can make this judgement by these renders. I get the impression that you simply don't like glass (or modern architecture). Must be a bad time for you to be a follower of architecture in Chicago - thank goodness!

Nor did we lose the Merc for this... That's further north, at Franklin/Washington. This guy is at Wells/Monroe.

At any rate, I'd rather have an 75-story iconic archi-sculpture than a 1500' compliment to the apparel mart.
