^ Sweet! That view from the 52nd floor will be mind-blowing. Although a view from almost any floor is good.

i wonder how high the fog gets. I gotta figure from the 52nd floor, you'd be above it. that would be stunning.

^ you're right. to have a view above the fog line and to look out at a virtual see of fog, that would be a very weird (and awesome) experience. I'm not sure the Towers will be above the fog though. It seems to me the weather report during the winter usually mentions that Auburn or Placerville is above the fog line, but aren't those cities at about 2,ooo'? I hope I'm wrong and the fog bank stays at 3 or 4 hundred feet!

i used to work in auburn and when i started up the hill and got off at newcastle i had already already punched through it. i think the fog is a bit thinner by then, but newcastle is at about 700 feet, so it could be close.

the berkeley and oakland hills are at about 400-500 feet, and they're near the top of the fog out there.

I've seen tight, low fog before where the tops of some of the existing buildings were visible. Doesn't happen too often, but there will be some opportunities. More so with these Towers. Man that would be quite a sight!

that's a really cool floorplan surferb. I think it's a great use of space. Another reason I like it is that your view will actually include Tower 1. So in a way, you kinda get the best of both worlds. You get to live in the building and have a view of the building at the same time. If I were you, I'd spend all my free time looking for naked chicks in Tower 1.

Can you imagine?! what an embarassment to the regime. How do you explain that people? I imagine a few people lost their heads over that boondoggle. I love how they keep the crane on top, as if to suggest it's only a temorary 20-year pause in the construction process.

according to the article, they used a substandard grade of concrete and so the entire building is unsafe to inhabit. I think that's what I read. Too bad you can't eat concrete. There's a lot of hungry people in North Korea.

How much parking is there? Does it cost extra?What are the HOA fees and is parking for atleast one vehicle included? Will it cost my friends $20 to park when they visit? Will mail come to my door? Is free WI FI being offered? Do all condos have balconeys and could I leave a Bar-BQ on one? If I have a pet dog where would I walk it? There has to be someone who can answer these questions.

there's enough parking for every unit to have one stall included in the purchase price. Units with 2 or more bedrooms can purchase an additional stall for $30K. I don't believe there are enough stalls for every unit w/ 2+bedrooms to purchase an additional stall though. HOA will range from about $500 to about $1000/month, depending on the unit (I believe the HOA amount is based on your unit's square footage).
I believe the residences will have private mailboxes downstairs. I predict all of downtown has free wi-fi by then, but I'm not much a technophile, so I really don't know. All units will have covered balconies. Can you have a bbq, I don't know. I don't remember reading in the CC&R that you couldn't.

I'll take a stab at your questions:

Each unit comes with one parking spot. Two bedroom units have the option of purchasing a second parking spot. HOA fees vary by the size of your unit.

Don't know yet if there will be guest parking in the building.

I believe there will be a mail center in the lobby for residents.

I would not bet on free wi-fi, although the HOA may decide to provide in the future if enough owners are interested.

I think all of the units have a balconey. No sure of size and whether you can have a BBQ. There may some fire code issues, I don't know for sure. There is a resident BBQ area by the pool on the top of the pedistal.

There will also be some green areas (at least the latest design) on the top of the pedistal. If I had a dog, I think I'd walk it to and around caiptol park or old sacramento.

Supposedly, the number of pilings has been reduced from 2900 to 2400. This reduction was due to design changes in the building that reduced overall weight and piling design changes that increased load carrying capacity. Saca is now asking the city for funding for the hotel as his cost is overrunning initial estimates. These developers typically have contingency plans. Many condo buildings are promoted with the best case scenarios. I'm not questioning whether this building will be built, I just wonder whether it might have 40 floors instead of 54 or the more recently revised 52. Also, typically the first sacrafices are made in the quality of the condos. Hardwood floors end up being cheap laminate, Cabinets are cheap particle board ect. This project is still very fluid and we should expect adjustments. I'm interested in the project but there is no way I would put down a deposit until I new exactly what I was getting. I think alot of people are holding off because the pressure is off and they would like to buy a complete condo rather than an idea.

I'm just wondering how you guys get to the point of actually building a building while still having so much fluidity in the project. I dont know of any project in SF that was under construction that added or subtracted floors, usually changes that large invalidate the CEQA EIR.
