How do they get those huge chandeliers to hang over the city like that?

That's a great view of a great looking tower.

that would be a cool picture if the windows were clean. looks like a neat place. some of my friends went there and said it was nice just a little slow. I don't think a lot of people know about it.

I drive through Mobile a lot. It's nice to see that thing getting bigger each time.

The RSA Tower is gonna look pretty sweet at night. Seriously, downtown looks pretty nicely lit now days at night, so imagine when the tower is completley completed.

I'm guessing whenever they complete the tower.

I know this isn't downtown, but has anyone seen that nice 3 story bank on Old Shell Rd? I thought it looked pretty cool for a small bank and was kind of random for where it is in town.

are you talking about the one in springhill? I say its good for the springhill village to revamp that area. oh if thats what you are talking about the bank looks great!

Yea I think that's the one.

For the longest time I've been meaning to create a photo thread of Midtown Mobile and West Mobile and so on. Take pics of places like that bank, Montlimar Place, Providence Hospital, Murphy High, Cooper T's, etc. I'll have to get around town one day and do it.

Have you eaten at Cooper T's? I was very dissapointed seeing as how their other two places (Felix's and Ruth's Crhis) are quite good.

No I never ate there and have heard it wasn't that good either. I just like the whole I idea of having a giant airplane out in the middle of town.

I only ate there because my wife made me (didn't want to eat there because of where it is) - after eating the food, I won't have to worry about taking her back.

The airplane itself isn't bold enough, and the architecture of the building is banal even for west Mobile. When I heard descriptions of the restaurant, I was expecting this epic passenger jet to bisect the building and act as a visual landmark for the Airport/Hillcrest intersection. Oh well...

Yea. Its basically an old square building with the long body of the plane laying right next to it and one wing sticking out.

I agree on cooper t's. It could have been an interesting building but they made all the wrong decisions. Converting a Picadilly into a nice airplane themed restaurant? They also didnt go all out with the idea. Instead of incorporating the plane a little more into the design, they pretty much just parked it down the side of the building. News on the tower/downtown has been very slow lately. You would think with the opening of the hotel, capping off of the tower, and tenant signings that there would be something daily in the news. On an unrelated topic, does the news about the possibility of a new ship/parking deck change any of the plans for the csx condos? I feel like all of that is so close together. That project seems very stalled, with demolishing still not started. Between that and the maritime center, Im not sure which project will stall itself into never being completed. I also so last week where they are considering putting a hurricane response center in Mobile and the proposal has it being added into the design for the Maritime Museum. Dont know how many of yall saw the article, but that is just absurd. Supposedly it would help keep the museum project on pace, and help with the funding, but IT WOULD BE THREE FEET FROM THE BAY! That is one project that actually needs to be built outside of downtown.
