The Eastside grill is typical bistro fare, burgers, sandwiches, salads etc...

It finally got comfortable around 12:30 last night... except for the humidity. Fortunatly it was a $60 fix and it's working now.

75% of the people on that stupid forum tell people to stay out of Montgomery, and that it's the WORST place to live. ANYTHING that happens in Montgomery... they find enough negative things to say about the situation and Montgomery to fill up numerous pages. They need to all stay over there and die......... very negative, unappreciative people.

Lek's is a great spot as well, since it's close to all the riverfront action.

Ok, I get it. Geez, I mean they're not all bad. Just, have different views then you guys, and I'll bet you that most of the ppl on the AL.com/forums/Montgomery section have lived in the River Region as long as you guys, if not longer.

Point is, I can't be as quick to call them "racists, haters, and conspiracy theorists", at least not yet.

Hopefully we'll see it... unfortunately, demand has been very slow for the existing units on Court St... maybe when the Hotel/CC open, and a couple more restaurants and the like open, we'll see some growth in that area.

Looks like your pics were the inspiration for the Montgomery Advertiser's nearly identical pic in Saturday's paper. More evidence that they view this site for something to write about.

Unfortunately no. It was one of those deals where they just simply print a picture and a short explanation of it in the paper only--no story or anything else about it. That's the reason there was no link to it on there website. But really, should I have expected anything more informative from them?

I do have a pic I scanned from Saturday's paper. I had to blow it up some because it was so small. It looks eerily similar to your pics, except for a few details...like the crane locations.

It's kinda' funny. You posted yours on Friday, the folks at the newspaper saw them on this website and liked them so much, they had someone take pics from the exact same location and had them printed in the paper the very next day.

It's just very strange that you all had pics from the same angle and location at around the same time.

....unless...maybe...you were...

I-65 work could be bid in fall

State transportation officials are gearing up for the largest interstate construction project in Montgomery since the 1970s and want motorists to consider using alternate routes when the Interstate 65 project begins.

The $45 million project includes the construction of additional lanes -- from four to six -- and the resurfacing of what Mayor Bobby Bright considers "the worst segment of federal highway anywhere in the South."

The work, expected to take two years, could create "stop-and-go" traffic during rush hour comparable to Birmingham, said Tony Harris, a spokesman for the Alabama Department of Transportation.

"When this construction and resurfacing begins, the driving public in the greater Montgomery area needs to expect traffic slowdowns, intermittent lane closures and delays that may result in them considering alternate routes, or at the very least, changes in their travel plans," Harris said.

A start date for construction will be set once the contract is awarded, which could happen as early as September, said Harris.

Bright expressed relief Friday that the project finally is set to begin because the road surface is so poor.

"I hit a pothole one time and didn't think I was going to come out of it," he said. "It's not only an aesthetic eyesore, it's a safety hazard."

Bright said the city has signed an agreement to help monitor traffic and will do whatever else is necessary to help move the project along.

He said the resurfaced highway would attract new business and entice out-of-town motorists to stop in Montgomery to shop.

Harris said the construction would be completed in phases in an effort to minimize traffic jams. The resurfacing and lane additions will stretch from the Catoma Creek bridge to the Alabama River bridge.

Harris said about 80,000 motorists travel through Montgomery every day on I-65.
