Congrats to Spain, what a clinic they put on. Argentina are an embarrassment, too bad England didn't beat them.

Money talks, so we should expect 64 teams. It's inevitable, but I like the idea of having a few more teams that were close to making the cut (Chile, Italy, etc..) being in the tournament, plus a few extra Cape Verdes here and there.

the literal prize to FIFA is China. They have probably a >50% of making it in a 64 team tournament.

You could have a 200 team tournament, and there would still be teams "close to making the cut".

In a fitting epilogue, Fifa have today removed Leandro Paredes' (Argentina) red card for choking and tackling Spain's Éric Garcia during the victory celebrations. Fifa are claiming there was never actually a red card given, and it was simply recorded incorrectly by their system. Somewhat hard to believe that, but it's arguably worse if a red card wasn't in fact given for such violence.

It should also be noted that we've still not heard of any discipline given for Argentina's very-against the rules Malvinas banner.

How disappointing... Here in France, we all thought our team was unstoppable.
Psst, in the end, we were brought crashing down to earth. The Spaniards almost humiliated the French by their mastery.
I had some kind of feeling that our midfield was too weak to beat Spain, though.
In contemporary football/ soccer, midfield is often regarded the most important sector tactically. Spain showed it once again.

My money was on France at the start of the event. But I'm glad Spain won since Trump seems to hate Spain so much right now. I think we can all agree we are Happy the US team never made it to the finals.

I'm happy that the Argentinians wouldn't win anyway. They are nasty like Paraguayans.
Those South Americans have no manners, huh.

I'm not talking about Brazil that's in a league of their own, but really, Spanish-speaking South America seems to be ill-mannered.

Congrats to Spain. They are Champs and clearly the best team and the hardest path beating Portugal, Belgium, France along the way.

I wanted Argentina and Im a Messi fan, but dissappointed in their play in the Finals. Zero shots on goal in 90 minutes...wtf?!

Spain absolutely deserved that win.

Will also add, I thought this edition of the WC was amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe because games were here, same timezone, Canada did so well. Also I really like the expanded format, we got teams like Cabo Verde making it to knockouts that otherwise would be excluded.
