Concrete support pillars for the 2nd floor of Tower One are now being installed.

At least with the Three Sisters, it took about 10 days for each floor to be installed. If a similar pace is maintained for the Gateway development, then Tower One will be topped off by the end of November.

I wonder when they will start Tower Two? They are still pile driving. Will they wait until next spring, or will they start this fall and work on both towers concurrently???

^^^

It will start to rise right after the first tower is topped off just like the three sisters.

Side note I have heard of 3 or 4 new shops and restaurants for the three sisters which gets me excited to see what’s in store for this development especially the riverfront part.

Typically they'll focus on one tower and top it off, then work on the interior of that one while they build the next tower. There's usually some overlap of course. Like ICON in Riverview - they weren't quite finished topping off number one before starting the second building.

Full speed ahead on the first building to generate revenue ASAP.

Kind of a repost since this discussion was occurring on the Three Sister page, but there is a possibility the Picaroons out of Fredericton may be opening a brew pub with a patio in the Gateway Towers facing the Riverfront Trail.

No confirmation, just intriguing speculation and rumours.

They’ve officially started building the first floor! I seem to recall the 3 sisters were doing a floor about every 20 days or something. That’ll mean that by this time next year the building will be topped out.

Truly the only beacon of hope and progress in downtown right now. Glad we at least have this.

I drove by the other day and there was a bunch of workers holding up signs. As I got closer I realized they were on strike. That’s likely why there hasn’t been any work on the site, or on some other sites around the city for that matter.

Who’s on strike and against whom? There has been nothing in the media.

Electrical workers are on strike. This has nothing to do with Lafford. Is there actually no work being done on this site?

The first floor is now almost complete. Just like the three sisters the podium will take a longer time than the main tower itself. Plus they just finished all the steel piles for both buildings in the last week or two.

I drove by this morning. There is active concrete pouring going on for the second floor of tower one. Things are full speed ahead, although it does seem a little slower than I would like. Leroy is probably correct that the podium work takes more time.

There was no work on the site for most of this week, but then when I went by today I saw them pouring concrete and kind chuckled cause of course there is work going on now that I said something.
