Any idea if the No Frills in Elizabeth Park is moving or if a new one is opening?

An unfortunate announcement. Tiny’s Bar and Grill in paradise has announced on its Facebook page that it will be closing its Paradise location permanently on December 21st.

Taco Bell is getting closer to opening in Mount Pearl. I'd still say it's a couple of months away but billboards around the city are displaying ads such as "Mount Pearl's worst kept secret" and "Worth coming to Mount Pearl for"

Taco Bell

I'm not sure what the excitement is about but the forthcoming Taco Bell in Mount Pearl has earned a Telegram story.

There's a new spot down on Water Street but I couldn't quite catch the name as I drove by, I think it's in the location of the old Yellowbelly. There's Estee, but I think there was something else next to it -- Bound or Found or...something? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Newfoundland’s newest Taco Bell is so popular, city staff have had to intervene

Commonwealth Avenue in Mount Pearl has seen traffic back ups for three days straight since the city’s Taco Bell location opened last Saturday. Some customers reported on social media that they waited hours in a lineup on the street before even entering the restaurant property to place their drive-thru order.

“Please TACO your time, it’s NACHO average traffic delay,” the City of Mount Pearl wrote in a notice shared on Facebook, alerting drivers that it was going to prohibit left-hand turns into and out of the restaurant to control traffic flow.

I guess anything new is a novelty at first, but even Vancouver has just one location in the city proper, downtown with no drive thru of course, opened in 2025, and I think it made very little impact or news. Vancouver banned any new drive-thrus back in 2006.

They now have 4 locations in Metro, including Mount Pearl, Paradise, MUN food court, and now Kenmount.

I heard this is going to be one of the additional Taco Bell locations now. Taco Bell workers have confirmed apparently.

AllNewfoundlandLabrador is reporting this as well, would make a lot of sense to me with KFC next door and Pizza Hut around the corner. Just worried about the traffic backlogs with how busy Tim’s gets during peak hours too

Menchies in Mount Pearl is now closed. The original location on Kenmount Road on back of Starbucks closed during the Covid days I believe.

Just seeing on Facebook that the Golden Phoenix building has been demolished. I don't know if something else might be planned for the site or just parking. Will they also demolish the Toys R Us portion of the building next door?

Was just reading about that on VOCM. You know the “Mall” must have plans for something. Maybe unifying the parking lot with the “ToysRUs/The Brick lot. Make a perfect location for an Olive Garden (which is in expansion mode) right now. Time will tell.

On another “Mall” side note. Was at the Mall last week and they have one of the escalators all boxed in by “Coles” with construction walls with signage teaser saying the escalators are evolving or something like that.

It's been a while but Olive Garden strikes me as maybe just an elevated East Side Mario's - if it's going to be a restaurant can we aim a little higher please?

That elevator has been boxed in for a few weeks now. When I was last there I could see another elevator in the enclosure as I rode down. ( new & waiting to be installed presumably? )

Hey it was only a suggestion. Chill. Who knows what Avalon Mall got planned for that area? I guess we’ll find out soon enough as work progresses on that area.
