The new hotel, which will operate under the Alt banner, will be the company’s third property in the Ottawa area after its Alt Hotel on Slater Street and the recently opened Le Germain at the redeveloped Arts Court complex near the Rideau Centre.

Uhhh... didn't the Le Germain open in like 2018? Not sure I'd call that "recent"

Wouldn't it be cool if it had a glass top floor with a banquet hall. If only we had like... a CIP to encourage development at the airport that the City approved in July 2022.

Would've been an excellent spot for the airport to host events. Great spot for some plane spotting!

It's crazy it has taken us this long to get a proper airport hotel but I feel like it's one more sign that we are actually becoming a (mini) hub. Now get me a new European direct flight and I will take it immediately :-)

I hope that they built the hotel in a way to make that top glassed in floor possible to build at a later date.

Currently looks like there is a mega sized shipping container up there. Bit of a shame as the rest of the building envelope is fairly handsome.

That shipping container gives me hope that it's the full core with elevators, stairs and space for washrooms in the future.

It's mechanical, but its not unreasonable to think they built it to leave space for future back of room functions if ever they add that floor.

The new airport ALT Hotel seems to be opening February 16th based on their online site accepting bookings as of that date onward. Has there been any confirmation?

Through the windows it still seems like some work to be done... but Feb 16 might be a possibility.

There will be an entry way opposite of Tracker and an in/out from the departures level exit ramp.

The bridge from the terminal to the hotel looks nice. Very small foot print for the hotel but fits quite nicely.

Sorry for the not-so-great-pic

I'm never going to use this hotel but I'm super excited for it. It always felt as if we were a half-ass city without a proper airport hotel. This will solidify ourselves as a hub(ish) and I'm sure will get a lot of use. It's a good size for an airport with our traffic volume.

New Alt Hotel at Ottawa Airport to open soon

By Josh Pringle, OBJ
Published: February 18, 2026 at 12:10PM EST

Travellers will soon be able to stay at the Ottawa Airport.

Germain Hotels tells CTV News Ottawa the new Alt Hotel Ottawa Airport will open soon but can’t confirm a date. According to the Germain Hotels website, you can book a room starting March 1.

The 178-room hotel connected to the terminal at the Ottawa Airport features a 24-hour gym, a restaurant and workspaces.

Germain Hotels initially applied to the city for a $13 million community improvement grant in 2023 to support construction of the hotel at the Ottawa Airport, but council voted down the plan. Germain Hotels told CTV News Ottawa in October 2023 it was going ahead with the hotel.

The Alt Hotel Ottawa Airport is the third Germain Hotels location in Ottawa, along with Le Germain Hotel Ottawa on Daly Avenue and the Alt Hotel Downtown Ottawa on Slater Street.

It’s the latest hotel to open in Ottawa, after the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa, with 150 rooms, opened in July and the AC Hotel by Marriott Ottawa Downtown, with 159 rooms, opened on Rideau Street last April.

Marriott is set to open the Moxy Ottawa downtown in 2026 and the Renaissance Hotel in 2027.

Seemingly the hotel will open tomorrow Saturday. Bookings are still being taken for tomorrow onward.

EDIT: I just called the hotel, they are anticipating being open as of tomorrow for guests, however they are still waiting on final checks and signoff, so they can't say definitively at this very moment. (restaurant still needs food permit which will take a while longer).

I haven't seen much fanfare but according to their website, the Alt Hotel at the airport is now open: https://www.germainhotels.com/en/alt...ottawa-airport
