This is south of the church on Sarnia Rd east of Hyde Park.

Applicant: Bluegrass Long Term Care Centre
What is Proposed?
Official Plan and Zoning amendments to allow:
• 4-storey apartment building containing 54 units
• 4-storey long-term care facility containing 224 beds
• Density of 65 units per hectare
• 165 parking spaces for all uses on site
• 38 bicycle parking spaces for all uses on site

It's definitely election season..... Council voted against this proposal in a 5-10 vote... this is despite city planning staff recommending Council to approve it.

There was lots of neighbourhood opposition to this one.

CBC article on this no vote. Lewis is probably correct in that this will go to the OLT and the City will lose.

The sad part is that some neighbours actually believe the open space was a public park.

Developer Jarlette Health Services has appealed this to the OLT where the city will likely waste $30K-$100K to defend their decision to reject the zoning application.


The city will likely lose at the OLT and taxpayers will be on the hook.
