I guess Syd is a game day decision.

He shouldn't do anything which puts his health or career in jeopardy. But, having him on the bench would be an inspiration for everyone on the team.

Losing Sid is the exact type of situation where they woulda been better off bringing Bedard on the team instead of Jarvis

Hope they don’t regret the decision, but Canada should still have more than enough firepower to beat Team USA.

Hopefully Sid is healthy enough to play.

Hearing a lot of complaining about the overtime rules, 3 on 3 with 20 minute periods, no shootouts. Heard a great hypothetical today, Cooper and Sullivan should make a hand shake agreement to put 5 players on the ice in OT and play real hockey, what would the IOC do? DQ both teams? Be the end of the NHL in the Olympics if they did. Won't happen, but I would love to see it.

As for Sid, I think it will be him and him alone that decides if he plays. He's a team player, he won't do it if he thought he wouldn't be good enough. Did see a tweet that he had a knee brace being flown in, but who knows if that means anything, maybe he needs that for the flight home.

If the game is out of hand, I wonder how "NHL" it will become in the last 10 minutes or so? If it was say 5-1 Canada, would the Tkachuks become typical assholes and would Tom Wilson put Matthew through the glass lol?

No way, Jose! Not after him and Wheeler bullied Laine and created a hostile environment in the Jets locker room. I’ll still be happy to see my hometown win a Stanley Cup one day, but haven’t followed the team nearly as closely or felt as much of a fan since they traded Laine.

Scheife is a good player, but not a fan. Bedard has much more upside, but yeah, Scheife would be a good option for Team Canada too if Crosby is out.

I will say this though… whether Sid plays or not… if Team Canada wins the gold tomorrow, Crosby should at least be one of the flag bearers at the closing ceremony. I know the NHLers have traditionally passed on the honour to give Canadian athletes from other sports some much deserved exposure… but if Team Canada beats Team USA tomorrow… it would mean a lot to see Sid carry the flag in the closing ceremonies, in what will almost certainly be his final Olympics.

Plus, Canada wants to win and needs players coming from teams and organizations with a culture of winning; not mediocrity.

Dammit I am scared. US D-squad is miles better than ours and that tends to be the difference. Guys like Parayko, Sanheim and Doughty (even Toews) have no business being on team Canada.
However, a lot of losers on team USA like Matthews, JT Miller and Hellebuyck so I believe this could be our advantage.

They need to come with a better effort than vs Czechia and Finland.

Disappointed with the result, but the boys played their asses off. They have nothing to be ashamed of.

Extremely disappointing result. The team played a fantastic game, but in the end, the USA had the better goalie.

It feels as though someone has died. If there ever was a time when I really wanted to beat the Americans, it was now.

Some things:

1. Reffing was trash.

2. Disappointed in the result but still proud of Team Canada.

3. Everybody finally finding out who Hellebuyck is as us Jets fans knew already.

4. Team Canada's revenge tour has already started.

We'll be back.

Has anyone told that idiot Brady Tkachuk that there isn't really chocolate inside that thing yet or are they letting him keep trying.

They played a great game but Hellebuyck decided to have the game of his life. Wish Crosby could have played as this is probably his last Olympics.

Also, 3 on 3 Ot to decided the gold medal game is a joke.

Connor McDavid - perennial bridesmaid? Sydney going down and McDavid getting the C sealed our fate.

There seems to be a curse, Canada just can’t be given a feel good moment amongst all the bullshit coming up from the south.

The Bluejays almost did it, but no…

We almost won gold in men’s hockey, but no…

It’s actually starting to piss me off.

Didn’t help Bedard wasn’t even the second or third injury replacement either…

Canada needs to just go with the best players available next time… and hope our dmen and goalies are a lot better in time for 2030.

Well, we did get the 4 Nations, which as contrived as it was, came at a very good time for the country

All in all these Winter Olympics seem pretty “Meh” for Canada. How is it a country of 40 million and a very wintry climate comes behind much smaller countries like Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway and Sweden?
