Yawn.
Once AC starts getting the 787-10's and A321XLR's is when we could see some kind of significant expansion out of YVR as those planes will be freeing up widebodies.

I would love to see new destinations like SGN,DPS, or maybe somewhere in Central/South America added to YVR's portfolio.

Yes, It looks like (AC) Air Canada *New* Boeing 787 Dreamliner 10 fleet of planes ✈️ will be based at Toronto YYZ 1st to support AC’s YYZ hub & international flights /expansion. As the AC 787-10 has lot of premium seats 42J 28W and 262 Y according to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Canada_fleet

I’m sure as AC gets more deliveries of 787-10 they will rotate some of it to operate international flights from Vancouver YVR & Montreal YUL AC hubs & even on the Calgary YYC- London LHR UK route too (seasonally) ✅.

Well, interestingly enough Air Canada has just opened up PEK to daily effective 30 April. Of course the scheds only go until end of August so unsure if going daily year round but certainly appears to be daily for next summer at least.

Although very early I know but next summer DL increasing MSP to three daily

Total US carriers are now at 50 daily next summer

UA 19 DL 13 AS 8 AA 7 B6 2 and then whatever Sun Country does

Lots of UA 320 action showing now - I’m sure that will change but certainly a lot!

AC has re-added IAD daily as well

LH still showing 744 to FRA (343 for winter) and WK 343 to ZRH so still holding on to a couple of 4-holer routes before they all get replaced

Was originally scheduled at three daily then dropped to two

50 daily by US carriers impressive in my books

Obviously that can change but for now, that’s where we are at

19 daily flights to Delta hubs with the combined DL/WS schedule
35 daily flights to United hubs with the combined UA/AC schedule

I’d also say this will be the busiest winter for South Pacific flights with Qantas going daily for the peak period. Total of 39 weekly on the 4 carriers

AC 22 weekly
NZ 7 weekly
QF 7 weekly
FJ 3 weekly

*With the number of US ><foreign airlines either pulling out of the USA (for obvious reasons) or reducing frequencies, (Seattle lost ANA to Haneda) I wonder if foreign airlines will increase their presence in Canada? /// If yes, I'm sure the increases would be mostly YYZ or YUL, but YVR might get some spillover, too. (I'd love to see Qatar at YVR though I doubt it will ever happen).

Where does it say that Seattle lost it's ANA Haneda flight ? I don't recall seeing that news anywhere.

Until the bilaterals get expanded again, I don't think we'll be seeing any ME3 carrier at YVR. Also if they were expanded, I think we would probably see EK at YVR over QR.

Sounds like a broken record!

With all the recent additions and announcements of new or returning carriers I compiled a list of all foreign airlines at YVR

Nothing compared to YYZ which is in a league of their own of course but not bad for #2

35 total - 28 longhaul (26 year round) and 7 North American (6 year round)

Longhaul
Air China
Air France
Air India
Air New Zealand
All Nippon
British Airways
Cathay Pacific
China Airlines
China Eastern (resumes next week)
China Southern (resumes this week)
Condor
Edelweiss
EVA Air
Fiji Airways
Hainan
Hong Kong Airlines (new this year)
Icelandair
JAL
KLM
Korean
Lufthansa
Philippine Airlines
Qantas
Sichuan
Turkish
T’way (new this year)
Xiamen
Zipair

North America
Aeromexico
Alaska
American
Delta
JetBlue
Sun Country
United

Great for Vancouver YVR!

In 2026 - South Korea’s T-Way Air is changing to Trinity Airways .

I'm hoping we can get one more route announcement before the year ends.

I know the chances are slim but I'm hoping that we could land Vietnam Airlines and add SGN to YVR's portfolio. Earlier this year VN mentioned a handful of new destinations they could launch and Vancouver was one of the mentioned destination.

Writing on LinkedIn, Vietnam Airlines disclosed that the following cities will likely happen. They are predictable. While no details were provided, they would all be operated from Ho Chi Minh City, like San Francisco, as each market has significantly more point-to-point traffic than Hanoi. There is also connecting traffic via Ho Chi Minh City across Southeast Asia.

All the markets cover a vast distance. While Los Angeles would cover even more distance than San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver would be notably shorter.
It also mentioned this about SGN.

Vancouver's second-largest unserved long-haul market after Tehran, which obviously won't materialize

I've tried to capture the S26 changes so far.

Here's what I've got. I also added in summer, winter and year round notation, and a lost of the top 5 markets.

Interestingly for an airport that used to be very summer seasonal YVR now has the fewest summer seasonal longhauls of the big 4 airports in Canada.

^ I think SGN is a matter of when and not if

Certainly a logical next destination

SIN BKK MNL and SGN would cover SE Asia very well

DPS perhaps further down the road and maybe KUL and CGK eventually

Great chart as always lefty

Just a couple of changes I noticed

You’ve included some of the Mexico flights but labelled the chart Intercontinental

LH MUC is daily
AC DUB is 3 weekly
WK ZRH will be a 343
AF CDG will be a 359

Excuse me. My mistake, it seems. I heard about ANA dropping Seattle on youtube, but could not find that video again. ///// That said, DELTA has dropped Seattle><Haneda.

Thank you for continuing to make these tables. They are excellent and a source of ongoing interest to me.

It's also interesting to see how dominant Boeing wide-bodies remain at YVR. Dreamliners and 777s make up the vast majority of long-haul metal.
