17C and sunny in Moncton at 9 AM, going up to 27C this afternoon.

We are finally going to get some substantive rain this weekend.

Castlegar BC Summer 2025 recap:

49 days of 30C or higher
14 days of 29.0C-29.9C
Highest high 37.1C way back on July 1st. And lower than usual lately
36.4C on June 9th is extremely early for high heat
July with hotter days than August doesn't usually happen here

28 29 28 25 21 22 22

50 days of 30C may not happen

Edit: 31.1C at 4pm so we did get 50 days of 30C or over this year.

The sea is a little angry

Warm and smoggy. It would have been a stunning bluebird day if not for the fires.

25C with a humidex of 27 and sunny. Clouded late in the evening and had some rain late into the night.

Low of 11C this morning.

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 32.9C.

Warmest low was Beaver Island, NS at 18.8C

Lost in the mayhem of the BC record was the fact the Yukon also set a territorial high for September at 29.2C yesterday (Breaburn). Broke the previous all-time territorial monthly high of 27.8C.

Also YVR with an dewpoint record of 19.9C today. Previous September high was 19.2C in 2017.

That Yukon record is pretty noteworthy as well, crazy for September 5th. The humidity in Fraser Valley this week has also been really noteworthy.

On the flip side, the freeze list has started… with Regina! Hourly report of -0.7 this morning.

Quite the contrast with the great Vancouver pics above, looking very sultry.

Also, nice Montreal sunshine pics, Nikko!

Sunny, warm, and breezy.

Went for a forest walk. Some decent sized trees in this slice of old growth.

Only made it to 17C. Some rain early in the afternoon. Cleared up afterwards (around 4PM).
Thankfully it did not cool off in the evening too much.

Low of 14C this morning.

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 31.6C

Warmest low was Grand Etang, NS at 20.1C

Some marnin' s'marnin'. Be some marnin' mar marnin' s'mar marnin's'like s'marnin'.

Also, I splurged (by my standards) and got a robot vacuum. No idea what to expect in terms of effectiveness, but just... so curious. Anyhow, works beautifully - I purposefully let a few low-traffic areas get really dusty over the past couple of weeks and it genuinely gets it all. Impressed!

Edit: It's a hot summer day again.

Weather change:

26 24 21 20 24 23 21

Every day under 30C and at least a 30% chance of showers all 7 days.

It was hot and smoky during the Grand Fondo race from the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler yesterday. Today looks much better, thankfully.

Wow, that's a lot of smoke!! Great pics with the new camera giallo - how are you adapting to it? Your pics look a little brighter with a bit less contrast than before- is this from the camera or has your editing changed a bit? I like both, lol.

Thank, zoomer!

These were taken with my old camera, actually. A couple of my lenses' auto-focus feature isn't compatible with my new camera, so until I get some new Z lenses, I'll have to use my old camera for events like these.

I think the lack of contrast is due to the smoke. It made everything look washed out.

They're beautiful. They have all the engaging humanity you always do, even happy and uplifting in this case, but juxtaposed with the smokey hellscape. Just very... Attention-grabbing, this set. I've clicked back into the thread like six times haha.

14C and rain in Moncton at 9 PM. It's been raining most of the day here. The plants are looking greener already!

I was in Halifax for the weekend. Hot, sunny and muggy down there. It felt like mid August.

19C and a mix of sun and clouds. On the chilly side but perfect weather for tennis.

I absolutely love sky like that, it's like a painting.

Low of 13C this morning.

The warmspot was Bow Island, AB at 31.5C.

Warmest low was Halifax (Dockyard), NS at 20.2C.

Tennis in Montreal, brings me back. Tennis was popular (maybe still is) in Montreal back in the 1980's.
I signed up for 2 summers 1984 and 85 at a tennis club because my friends lost interest.
The club would match me (I was 20 y/o) up with 50 and 60 year olds, I had a great serve but these guys had me running all over the court
