The new sewer replacement project under the forks of the Thames has been stalled out for a couple of months now since they did a little bit of site prep with construction fencing back in the summer. They were supposed to dig a shaft large enough and deep enough to lower a tunnel boring machine down below the river level and start tunneling under the river.

They have started working on the west side of the river to build a shaft. Mobile crane and forming for a large entry shaft has started on the south side of Riverside Dr.

Work continues on forming the walls and posts on the east end of the new water reservoir. Have made progress pouring the roof slab on the west end.

Looking at it on a map it strikes me as a ridiculous place to invest in park infrastructure, but I see food trucks there all the time and they surely aren't parking somewhere that doesn't get foot traffic, so I have to assume I'm just ignorant on the whole matter.

Now take it a few steps further and invest 10 million in a pedestrian bridge across the river and I'll kick in some of my own money!

Is that little dump heap Civitan club house still tucked in that eastern corner (where it says private property on that diagram) or has it finally fallen down? Half the guys I worked with in the late 80's had their stag and does there lol.

I don't know how much foot traffic was going by there for the food trucks, anytime I ever tried to go there, you couldn't get a car in that parking lot but it didn't seem like many people were walking there. Been several years since I tried though. I am surprised the city is putting money into boat access. I imagine the plan is easier access to drop a canoe in there, it's not like anyone will be backing an F-150 with their fishing boat on a trailer into the river there anymore, you can probably walk across the river there now without the springbank dam.

Work is on full speed on the digging of the shafts in order to tunnel the new sewer pipe under the forks of the Thames river. No idea if they have reached bottom yet on the shafts and have started the tunnel boring machine on its way under the river. I wonder if they will post a story on the tunnelling project on the website or media?

Contracts finally signed to extend water pipeline from Mount Bridges to Oneida on the Thames FN. Work expected to start this year and finish in 2027.

London Hydro is getting ready to start replacing Hydro lines in Gainsborough Meadows neighbourhood which lies between Sarnia and Gainsborough Rd. Expect lane closures as work crews do this work this year.

Heavy equipment has been working on the north side of Oxford St in front of the Fleetway 40 property on cleaning up the Mud Creek banks. This is the next phase of the creek remediation and realignment project. No signs yet of any work happening on the large subdivision proposal for all the lands north of Oxford upto the CP train tracks. The site prep for that will continue the Mud Creek remediation project and be incorporated into the new neighbourhood when eventually built.

Forming the last section of wall of the new water reservoir on Reservoir Hill. Alot of water proofing work on the concrete to be done before they backfill the walls with soil and the roof. But wrapping up the major structural build is a milestone.

They have now poured the last section of wall for the new water reservoir. Imagine they are working on the rooftop final section. Wonder what the process will be to finish the interior walls and floors in order to hold water? Will they apply some paint or other material on the walls and floor? The exterior exposed concrete will likely be waterproofed prior to being backfilled with soil.

Progress update on the new under the forks sewer tunnel.

The breakthrough moment for the project came when a specialized tunnel boring machine, after days of traveling under the Thames, emerged in a shaft located in Ivey Park. During its subterranean journey, the machine reached a depth of 14 meters below the riverbed.

Connections for the new lines are expected to be made in the coming weeks. Following the completion of underground work at locations in Mitchell A. Baran Park and Ivey Park, restoration efforts will begin.
