The new elementary school in Jackson subdivision is moving fast with a lot of the structural steel now up for the 2 story section and good progress on the concrete block walls of the gym and starting on the exterior concrete block walls on the west side of the school.
The challenge for boards is finding the right balance between over capacity schools with portables and under capacity schools with empty classrooms and small class sizes. Layer on top the operating and maintenance costs for some older buildings that no longer meet standards for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and communications.
Moving quickly on the new elementary school in Jackson Rd area. Most of the ground floor concrete block walls are now built. Have installed precast concrete floor slabs for the 2nd floor. Nearly done the concrete block for the gym and have delivered the large structural steel roof joists for the gym roof. A lot of the door and window steel framing is on site for installation on the first floor.
Most of the windows now installed on the new Regina Mundi Catholic HS on Wellington Rd S. Making progress installing the exterior brick which is a tan colour and somewhat matches the existing colour.
Making alot of progress with the new elementary school in Warbler Woods with foundation footings now being poured. They have already poured the parking lot curbs and have graded it for pavement. Could see structural steel being installed before Christmas.
Have started building the ground floor concrete block walls of the new Catholic elementary school in Kilworth-Komoka. Still no structural steel as of yet. Also still moving alot of dirt around on the lot.
