The "Landlord" wants to change the zoning to more than double the amount of office space allowed in the Westmount Mall.

The Owner is advancing an Official Plan Amendment to increase the maximum permitted office GFA from 10,000 m2 to 22,500 m2 and to permit one office use to have a maximum of 12,500 m2 GFA, with all other offices limited to the current 2,000 m2 maximum floor area.

I'm not sure there is a single downtown facility that can accommodate 800 staff, has on-site parking that is free for those staff, and at the right price.

City staff recommend against the zoning request to turn a large section of Westmount Mall into office space for CarFax. Goes to PEC next week.

Let's be blunt here. If Carfax says they need the rezoning at Westmount to go ahead or they will leave London the choice is made for this city council. Any councillor or the Mayor who votes NO should immediately resign and move out of town.


Yet we still have a couple of idiot councillors who seem to think they have some power to dictate to this private business where they can setup their 800 job business. This is PhD level stupidity and grounds for being fired on the spot.



Referring this back will likely get them an extra 120 days which conveniently results in this not being dealt with until after the Oct election.
