PD is the sole reason why YOW has stayed positive longer than most others. However, PD are keeping EWR & BOS on winter frequency levels this summer, LAS ended in June and the FLL summer gain negates EWR & BOS.

I suspect when YHZ’s May numbers come out they’ll be positive too.

Also YUL-BZE and YYZ-PXM.
AC removed Wednesday flights from YVR-PVR yesterday, I was wondering where it went.

Since Wednesday is typically the day with lowest demand, maybe they are adding the route just to piss WS off. I was thinking they might respond by adding YVR-GDL, YVR-LIR or YVR-PTY (and codeshare with CM), but maybe those 7M8 routes are too long, even for AC...

Wonder if WS will now go after PXM? I figured they would eventually add it (even before TPQ).

YUL-BZE is well timed to connect with Europe, both ways.

WS has flights loaded to Roatan, Honduras as well, so that means YUL will now have flights to every single Central American country this winter !

Not even YYZ can say that !

YYZ has Belize and Honduras, but they don't have flights to Nicaragua or Guatemala.

Hopefully WS will open these flights for sale on their own website as well.

Latest update in the AC Cargo site shows that TPQ is now a cargo destination.

I guess this makes more sense now.. AC do not take cargo from PVR, so they divert the Wednesday flight with the lowest passenger demand to a different airport in the area for some cargo.

Wonder if WS is doing something similar... though the Saturday flight shows WS may be aiming primarily for passengers?

WS’ presser specifically mentions GDL and HAV for cargo. Both were also cargo-only stations previously too.

TPQ is likely intended to be an alternative to PVR for those traveling to the Riviera Nayarit area.

Westjet should open all these flights for sale on its own website.

You can book the "flights only" on sunwing's website. Why not be able to do it on westjet's as well.

Wonder if it's done on purpose to still keep "Sunwing Vacations" relevant, due to the government conditions/restrictions on the merger for the first number of years.

Maybe those will become available on July 14. The thing I don’t get is a condition of the merger was they add sun routes from 5 additional markets. Where are they?

A quick google says "Extending Sunwing vacation package offerings to five new Canadian cities" So I would assume they will just sell sunwing packages out of places like YQQ, YXS, Maybe even places like YKA and YZF with a connection in YYC? Or are the Sunwing packages always direct flights?

I have been poking around packages to get a sense of the YOW schedule and it is offering me connections on some routes.

Which if that’s the case is an incredibly weak nothingburger of a condition as WS Vacations will have already been offering those connections for eons.

There's a few destinations like RIH, MGA, CCC, SNU, ADZ that are managed by Sunwing Vacations and WS only provides the air travel which is why they aren't bookable through WS own website.

I believe they have to block a certain amount of seats for those packages too. They have blocked seats on some YYC-routes too. I'm guessing eventually they will open up some air only bookings for destinations they manage like CUN/PVR/PUJ etc from YUL/YQB.

I make an annual trip to the Rivieria Nayarit area and would definitely consider TPQ over PVR any day of the week. The distance to my destination is a bit longer from Tepic, but avoiding PVR would be a major bonus.

Time it wrong and the wait to clear immigration at PVR can go on forever.

Montreal Metropolitan Airport (YHU)

Is there not a thread for this anywhere to track progress on this new airport terminal? There’s absolutely no information online about this and it’s no insignificant development. Much to discuss. Can someone with any interesting info/renderings/progress/routes/timelines/rumors etc start this up under the /Montreal thread?

WS appears to have eliminated YOW-RSW, which isn't overly surprising

YHZ-MCO also appears to have been cut. Surprised to see YLW-SEA survive.

YOW-YEG goes to 2x weekly this winter (I believe it was up to 13x weekly this past winter), and YOW-YWG has been scrubbed for the winter as well.

I wonder if Porter has cut into a lot of WestJet's traffic out east. I travelled Porter to Edmonton from the Maritimes, and we were routed through Ottawa on both trips, and the flights seemed quite busy. (Granted one of my flights was during the Crowdstrike mess last summer so it wasn't really a 'normal' flight)
