Wow! That's not too bad for me at all. That's looks great.

Haven't they already FAA approved yet? When they can start construction?

I like that Rechler is always pitching this tower, but we need concrete news. Hopefully, the government will provide the financing.

So this appears to be officially 1,581 ft., per developer.

Yeah, it’s been around this height for some time. But we’ll see what it ultimately is when we get a zoning diagram from the DOB.

Quote:
Rechler thinks now — more than ever — we need to invest in creating something that will last, which is why he is planning to build the ultimate skyscraper at 175 Park Avenue, which he claims will be the tallest building by occupied floor in the Western Hemisphere at 1,581 feet.

Technically, One World Trade Center is taller but Rechler notes its that building’s 408 foot spire which makes it 1,776 feet.

They should have asked his opinions on 350 Park, which would be just slightly below, but could end up just above.

I believe he was referring to the architectural height, measured to the top of the crown. Would be great if he really meant the highest occupied floor though!

He’s been saying it would have the highest occupied floor. Remains to be seen.

Hopefully, there's a reasonable basis for the optimism that Rechler exudes in this article.

That's a pretty big jump. If the highest occupied floor were 1,580, this would be 17-1,750 feet tall.

I'm not holding my breath but 1,580 is still a beast.

^ Good luck seeing that built. And he didn’t say the highest occupied floor was at that height.

Developers don’t just build to be higher than another tower. No on is setting out to build a 1,776 ft skyscraper just because. Even the Freedom Tower only reached that height for a very specific reason. Even a 1,000 ft skyscraper is not a given.

This tower should get a loan to be built on spec.

I’m sure they would love to do that. The banks, however, disagree.

I thought that RXR sought full funding from the government.

https://therealdeal.com/new-york/2025/05/06/vornado-welcomes-trumps-penn-takeover/

I suspected that Deloitte procured a good deal at 70 HY. Granted, Roth's comments may amount to mere sour grapes and shadenfreude, but I suspect that there's some truth to it.

Quote:
”Earlier in the call, another analyst pointed to Deloitte’s agreement to lease 800,000 square feet in Related Companies’ 70 Hudson Yards, asking if a deal of that magnitude would give Vornado confidence to begin construction at the Hotel Penn site, known as Penn 15. Roth said Vornado, along with “all the developers in town,” were shown the Deloitte lease. Vornado, he said, can afford to wait for a better offer.

“The deal that was made was a very aggressive deal for the tenant; the pricing was very tight,” he said. “We’re not bashful to say no to a deal that doesn’t give us the financial results that we think our shareholders are entitled to.”
