Vancouver just about to hit 1000 buildings there.
Worth celebrating

Lots can be gained without unnecessary NIMBY and City (eg. Viewcones) interference. These are good examples. Unfortunately, they are few and far in-between.

Took this when walking across the Granville bridge to see the fireworks. I wonder how this will look next year.

I think the towers will be as tall as those tower cranes? Not sure how quickly they'll get the foundation of Phase 2 in so it probably will look pretty similar next year.

You'll likely be joining a crowd of photographers doing so!
That's the first time I've walked the bridge on a fireworks night in a long time and I was shocked at how many photographers were set up mid-span. I don't know if that's always the case or if having the two curbs lanes closed made more comfortable using it.

Thanks!
So based on the bare railing behind, I guess they paint them after installation?

I don't think so, from the renders there is a mix of orange and silver railings.

I assume the painted balconies get the orange railings and the unpainted ones get the silver ones.. Not sure exactly how the side/edge of the balconies is treated from the photos.

I think the balconies with the square points on the corners are the ones that will have those curved appendages "connecting" the balconies.

Bet you there not, all in the name of screwing over motorists.

I think it pretty clearly is the case that they've created a pullout lane from the model. But who knows - these things can change in detailed design.

Except they've gone through the detail of putting lines on the road in the model and it is clear that bus is stopped in one (wide) lane leaving just one lane for through traffic.

Yeah, I wouldn't put anything past previous Councils that approved this. If that is the case, that is going to be one dangerous and collision prone spot, as people will be passing stopped busses by cutting onto the left lane.

I hope the model is just skipping details and that is not the case.

We all thought a 33% reduction in capacity for bike lanes would be carmageddon, and that never happened; temporarily stopping one lane for a few seconds every 6-20 minutes won't be either.
