Interesting that a "Megaplex cinema entertainment center" is the centerpiece of their downtown phase 1 plan (besides the ballpark). Feels pretty underwhelming to me, until I see otherwise I'm just going to assume that's Jordan Commons 2.0.

I'm honestly much more interested in seeing plans for the rest of the '200 acres' than this stadium. It looks worse than the current one.

What is the seating capacity supposed to be? I can't find it listed.

I think I saw somewhere that the stadium is only going to hold 7000 to 8000. It's going to be pretty lame. If Salt Lake does get a MLB team however - who cares?

7500 Sounds like a good number to me, especially with an MLB team nearby. Will make for a nice mid-sized outdoor concert venue also.

If and when a Four Season does come to Salt Lake I hope its design is a more articulated, especially at the top, Say a little more like the Alexander in Philadelphia, or if sheathed in glass more like the curvy Ritz or Grand in L.A. I like the tower to the left of the Four Seasons Denver.

Here's that article from the Trib. Orlando. Great to hear a Grand Hyatt is coming. Not a lot of details and no renderings yet. So many uber luxury hotels around Park City now. Too bad it isn't downtown but we can always brag about Park City being a part of the Metro.

It’s official: a Grand Hyatt is under construction at Deer Valley Resort.

Set to open in late 2024, the luxury hotel will be the first Grand Hyatt in Utah. It is part of Deer Valley’s expansion on the east side of the mountain, along U.S. 40 overlooking the Jordanelle Reservoir.

In a press release Nov. 9, Hyatt Hotels Corporation said the hotel will include close to 400 guest rooms, a grand ballroom and a variety of dining options, among other amenities.

New Canyons Village garage could open the door to paid parking




Existing surface parking in Canyons Village would be consolidated into the new garage, which would offer more than 1,800 parking spots, a four-lane drop-off area, and electric vehicle chargers. All parking stalls would be covered.

A website for the project states the garage provides an opportunity for paid parking. Park City Mountain has instituted paid daily parking in Mountain Village, but not in Canyons Village.

The new garage would be at the corner of Canyons Resort Drive and Lower Village Road, similar to the existing Cabriolet lot.

The project would be completed in three phases. The first would be the garage. The following stages would include an upgraded transit center, a public gathering space, and potential commercial development.

The project must get approvals from Summit County before moving forward. The developers hope to finish the garage in time for 2025-26 ski season.

Anyone who wants to learn more can attend a virtual open house Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.

So many thoughts,
Is the "Statue of Responsibility" really a good idea?
Also, if you are going to build it, it belongs on the West coast, maybe San Francisco, or Seattle? Failing that, maybe Texas? And, if you're going to build it in Utah, the Point is a pretty underwhelming location. Maybe Downtown Salt Lake, on the shores of the Great Salt Lake, next to the Salt Flats even the proposed Utah City would be a more dramatic setting then an office park in the middle of the suburbs. IMO

they should save the money being spent on the point to deck the valley all the way out for the 2034 olympics with tons of monuments and decorations and such when the time comes
