The outdoor space is making the transition from a house to a condo much much easier. The view is an added bonus.

If you’re going to live outside downtown, that’s the way to do it. Great views.

One of those weather record accounts posted that the high at Shearwater was only +1.7 on November 1 and this was the coldest November 1 on record in the city, looking at records going back 150 years (probably not at Shearwater but going to other older weather stations for older dates).

The trend seems to be somewhat warmer weather overall with more extreme events, or at least this past year seems like it had a lot of freak extreme cold and drought/rain events.

Up to 13C with sunny conditions. More overcast later in the day.

Some trees are completely bare while other are completely green. It's that time of the year.

Low of 5C this morning.

The warmspot was Toronto, ON at 15.6C

Warmest low was at Sisters Islands, BC at 10.9C.

A little retail therapy this morning. Although they’re by far the most commonly seen footwear in this city, year-round, for all ages, it’s my first pair in decades I usually prefer something flashier but all me soles are bald and winter is coming.

It’s overcast and cold but no wind so it’s fine.

Hit a high of 10c yesterday and a mix of sun and cloud. Currently 6c and drizzly, on its way to high of 9c today.

Heres a cool photo of the changing leaves from Tantulus Vineyard looking towards downtown.

Shortly after moving in here post tropical storm Lee hit Nova Scotia with sustained winds of approx. 100 kph in this area. Zero drama with near silence indoors and with most plants and furniture tucked-in against the building it was zero drama outside too. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. In general, I'd say the wind up here is similar to the wind at ground level with the exception of at the corners of the building which can be avoided by stepping outside or inside of that relatively narrow windflow. Prevailing winds change seasonally here so it's too soon to know what an entire year will look like. We'll be away most of the winter so I'm considering aiming a web-cam so that I may monitor where snow drifts might sit. Bedford Basin is approx. 15 km inland from the open ocean and is surrounded by higher land.

At 11 am it's 12 c under mostly cloudy skies and heading for a forecast high of 14 c.

Wonderful photo LFC. You should repost it on one of the city skyline threads too (to ensure more people actually see it).

Currently 11C and partly cloudy in Moncton at 11 AM.

We have already talked about it but for me it is always incredible that in such a cold and stormy area like Nova Scotia there are apartments with such large balconies and terraces. These outdoor structures are more typical of Mediterranean and tropical climates. You're lucky

We Canadians are a hardy bunch. In my younger days, I can clearly remember barbecuing on the deck in my backyard in January during a snowstorm, wearing only a light jacket, and with a beer in one hand.

Ask any American if they would ever consider such a thing.

The big storms get a lot of attention but they're maybe 1-2% of the total days. There are a lot more nice days than tropical storm or snowstorm days. And the storms aren't really an issue for modern construction. Almost all of the damage is from falling trees and branches, which you won't get on a highrise balcony above the trees.

You're right, but for example here in Mediterranean countries balconies and terraces are very common because they serve to combat the heat and because the numerous sunny days and warm, dry evenings guarantee dinners and lunches in the open air
