This was a picture earlier today, August 18th, 2021. Demolition is complete:

(sorry for the bad angles, didn't have much opportunity at the stop light)

Currently this site is the home to the Montrose Marketplace on weekends. Skanska wanted to keep the site at least somewhat active until they're ready to build.

Additional renderings of an updated vision for the site from Perkins Eastman via HAIF

Both towers point to development taller than 15 stories, as initially mentioned.

Earlier in the month, HAIFer wilcal teased that additional details will be forthcoming in a few weeks.

Heard some movement is starting to happen. We'll probably get some public info in a month or so.

Height comparable to Hanover Montrose/La Colombe d'Or
Hanover Montrose is '326 while Residences at La Colombe d'Or is '452

Interesting info from hindesky on HAIF regarding this site...

Quote:
Shawn Murphy from Skanska spoke at the Neartown Association meeting tonight. He said they are concentrating on finishing up 1550 On The Green by January and will start then be finalizing plans for their project here. If everything goes as planned they hope to start construction in 2025.

The two recent buildings they built are both LEED Platinum, the Capital Tower/Bank of America and 1550 On The Green and plan to do the same with this project.

Shawn Murphy also mentioned that they are self funded.

1 year of planning, 2-3 years for construction. Fronting Westheimer with wide sidewalks all around the project. Mixed use with residential but probably no office building component as of today's market for them.

He also said they tried to buy the Disco Kroger property but weren't able to acquire it.

This appears to be moving ahead a bit - The COH Planning Commission approved a variance to reduce of one of the towers distance from the street from 25' to 5'. Mix of residential and retail for this, and it only occupies the north half of one block (Westheimer / Montrose / Lovett / Yoakum)

The tower appears to be 31 floors and 363' to the top of the highest point.

By the time it's finished it'll have been value engineered into a Texaco station and a mattress store.

Just a reminder: Here's the previous rendering for this development.

^ I remember that when it was first released and even then I thought it was overly optimistic. The rendering before that one was even nicer.

Site work may begin soon per hindesky on HAIF

Exciting news.

Looks like Montrose Live has finished its life here at the Starling. A crew was taking everything off the site and crushing the empty spools of wire that served as tables. Work on the Starling should start sometime soon.
