I'm still a huge fan of this project. Such incredible density/vitality in Austin, TX. Who'd of thought!?

You're right. So, the point is that my raving about how much I like it is based on the kind of angles of the renderings which emphasize the upper 2-thirds of the structure and the external features, whereas the parking garage, in and of itself, does nothing for me. But you're absolutely right, as these parking garages go it's pretty standard and nothing too horrible, and maybe they'll even make it look pretty neat if they get creative with it.

I like the way you phrased that, not a good benchmark for ugly. There are so many other far-more-worthy contenders.

This project along with its very next door neighbor seem to have more renderings than any other projects that come to mind at the moment. Here's another rendering that seems to be slightly different than other renderings. Lots of folks hanging out on the roofs. The link below is to the website and a PDF brochure.

Goodness, what are they gonna do, throw parties up there?

Time for some fun critiquing....

The small balcony with the three guys, looks like the two behind are grabbing the butt of the third in front of them lmao.

Not sure what's going on with that larger balcony to the left. Two women with their arms out. They are either dancing or spinning around..

So when can we expect demolition to begin on Austin Music Hall. Is March 1st the demo start date or will site prep be underway by then?

All we know is that the developer said demo would begin in late February or early March. The last show is now scheduled for 02/20.

I'm really surprised that they didn't plan on demo starting until after SXSW. That venue is heavily used for SXSW.

Found an article with Jason Hicks, AMH general manager, saying AMH will have a "stay of execution" because of construction for the city's Great Streets project. He said demolition can't start until that is done and expects the AMH to be used for SXSW before demolition.

The post about the SXSW permitting panic because of new city rules was interesting as well.

Well I guess that's going to hold up demolition, as well as traffic in the area. People were stuck in nearby by parking garages for hours because of Secret Service security measures when he attended an event at the W a few years ago.

What a send off for the Austin Music Hall. That feels like an event that would have been scheduled way in advance so maybe they always knew demo wouldn't begin until April.

Hey there,
I live on the 30th floor of the 360 partly facing south. Can any of you who are wise in the way of elevations tell me if this bldg will rise up past my balcony?
Thanks

Pretty sure it won't after eyeballing those numbers, but you'll have to wait for someone who can accurately measure how tall this building will be in relation to your balcony for a true answer.

Looking at the elevations for 360 Condos, the 30th floor is at 322 feet 4 inches. Third + Shoal will be 387 feet.

The 37th floor of 360 is the first floor in the building that is higher than the roof of Third + Shoal. 360's 37th floor is 396 feet 5 inches.

Suspected as much, maybe i'll run a zipline off my balcony to one of the roofdecks..luckily plenty of view left unless the parking garage on san antonio becomes a massive highrise
