Sure is.

Plus Delta probably at 55 stories.

Still hoping for 102st to get built. Sure would fill in skyline. Plus an awesome design.

As one that has resided in Calgary for over 35 years, I would like to see quite a few more taller buildings in Edmonton's core as I firmly believe Edmonton is severely under-represented when it comes to high rises. Will Edmonton ever get near what Calgary has - probably not but I would certainly welcome Edmonton catching up in a big way because Edmonton's size warrants it IMHO.

Airport overlay

But we are making some serious progress.

For most of us on SSP it was always expected that Edmonton would see some taller buildings once the airport overlay was out of the way. How many tall towers is anyone's guess, as the lack of tall towers is not all because of the overlay. There isn't the same demand for office space in general.

Either way, it's good to see some change to Edmonton's skyline.

^ The overlay made the maximum height at 150 m and is why you see shorter towers (as well as the 50 m maximum along the west side of Jasper Ave). With the overlay gone, 2 towers are under construction that are 200 m+, hopefully with a few more in the pipeline.

Actually, isn't it just one 200 m+? Apart from the Stantec proposal, I don't know of any others this tall under construction in Edmonton. Even the Delta Hotel tower isn't anywhere near 200 m.

They said ~224 m with the option of maybe adding two floors and the height didn't include the mechanical roof/spire which was still being designed. This is code for we are waiting to see how tall Brookfield Place (~247 m) is going to be and we will top it when we complete Stantec Tower.

Well Oxford Tower is going to be taller than Brookfield Place, so I don't think it is that. The mechanical, crown and spire will change and height will likely vary that way. We'll see...

BUt, as for towers over 150m, which was the airport overlay limit, I see 3 in the arena district with two announced so far. North by Brad Lamb on 106th and maybe a couple more that are rumoured.

Isn't Brookfield one of Stantec's biggest clients locally? Even with Oxford coming in taller than Brookfield I don't see stantec one uping them.

Yuppers. They are essentially doing site prep for the Delta Hotel, Stantec and the entire retail/square portion at once since it will be a block squared parkade 5 levels down serving all.

Bottom left of this camera is the Delta with similar activities further south for Stantec.

Thanks Cold - exciting times in the city indeed, maybe the most exciting in the history of the city - relish every moment of it.
Looking forward to an exploratory visit.

Hey- big time amateur here- but I thought I would see what our skyline would look like with Stantec, Delta, Ramsey, Fox 1 & 2, Symphony and Jasper House superimposed into it. What a difference! Maybe somebody with some real photo shop skills could take a crack at this...

Anyway, from this angle it appears that Stantec, Symphony and Ramsey will be prominent.
