I thought the east face and elevator core were going to be clad in brushed aluminum panels. This looks very different from the renderings. The renderings showed no texture at all on these surfaces.

I think this building will struggle enormously to attract buyers, will quickly become a huge political whipping-point about class inequality, and may eventually get demolished when it fully metastasizes as the symbol of billionaire excess and inhumanity. This tower, more than many of the others those have risen in the past decade, really raises its middle finger to the citizens of NYC.

if you actually live in the city you get around and get all the views you want, not just one.

it will sell out and sit empty like all these rest of the rich guy apts in nyc, west end london, monaco, etc.

its another money laundering sinkhole, with more to come.

No urbanist would write such garbage.

Buildings obviously form cities. Buildings with small footprints are frequently the best kinds of buildings, because they preserve exiting historic stock and create greater pedestrian-level variation.

Skinny towers are generally fantastic for Manhattan's urban form. Zoning should encourage more skinny towers.

This is where I hope for a big fat tower of about 500-700 feet can be built next to it on either side to block most of its blandness. Even if the fat tower is bland, I think it would be better than this skinny thing.
